Thread: PETITION: To Add More Creature Storage Space Want creature handlers to have more!!!!!
Look, Jadelynn, I'm all for getting along, and the last thing I want to do is make this an us-versus-them debate. No, scratch that. Getting along is the second-to-last thing I want to do. The last thing is to go along with a scheme like this. You're asking us to be thankful for the opportunity to catch the crumbs from your table, and if we bite, you'll use our support to reinforce your argument that CHs should be further enhanced. You're politicking to get something you want. Don't pretend to be doing us a favor.
If Droid Engineer is to become a viable profession, it will have to do so on its own merits, not as a quick-fix extension of making an already functional profession more powerful. I can certainly stand to wait for a real fix to my profession.
I've gotta say, you guys really lost me when you started posting that SIXTEEN stored pets was just not enough for you. I didn't like releasing my first droid either, but gimme a break. You realize that, without differentiating normal and advanced versions, sixteen is the total number of types of droid we can build, period (including Bounty Hunter droids), and we're limited to the same five you are in our datapads. If you want to make your argument that Creature Handlers should be further enhanced, go right ahead, but I think you were mistaken to come in here looking for support.
I think alot of us are making a huge mistake and indeed are getting into the we vs them mentality. We need our profession fixed .. It is broken . This constant railing against the CH profession is a red herring and really doesnt have anything to do with reality and what the developers are up to.. The CH developers and the Droid Engineer Developers are two sets of individuals with thier own assigned tasks. The CH profession has gotten more attention because the CH designer has been able to get more patchs thru an also because 90% of those were nerfs to weaken them. There is only one area we really compete with the CH profession and that is with combat line of droids and if you really examine it we really dont compete directly with them for that . The reason people are not buying probots is not because there are ch pets that are better its is because the probots simple have too low a HAM to be viable in combat. If they didnt constantly die people would buy them to go ALONG with the ch pets for additional firepower. I find people doing that now some anyway. So its not a situation where u got a pet u dont want a droid. Most people want to be as powerful as possible and will want both if they ever make the probot useful again.
So i am not falling into the BE vs CH line or reasoning with u guys.. I understand alot of people hate animals and pets and think there are too many .. Just letting ya know there are lots of us who like both and simply think the BE profession should be fixed ..
Ya i got a master CH on one account and a master BE on another. Ienjoy them both except the CH really needs morepet space and the DE really needs functionaldroids. They really dont deserve to be contantly compaired. They are just different .
First is the CH comment: I'm a CH myself, but I don't consider myself a whiny little kid wanting to hold more uber pets
Second is the DE thing: I really hope that new droids get added to the game soon as possible, and I hope you guys realize this is a totally separate issue from any CH issue. Personally, I think it would be great if the data storage modules would work as advertised (I mean MAN do I need a place to store more waypoints), and I think there should obviously be a difference in droid chasses aside from the graphic model, and I wish there were more powerful and a wider variety of combat droids around. Most of what I wish, though, was for other droid functions than "tank" and "closet". Like - pay my harvester and empty hopper for me, pay my house maintenance, meet some guy in a different town and do a secure trade transaction for me, repair damage to another droid or pet or PC by itself (as opposed to the current way medical droids merely facilitate the healing of wounds by the players themselves), etc.. Basically, droids in Star Wars seem like they should do what computers do for us these days: do repetetive things for us, and I wish they would actually do that in SWG.
Anyways, my 2c.

I believe the reason for the negative post is as follows:
You would like to see us make something that only benifits CHs while DEs are still stuck holding the short end of the stick. DEs are asking for the abiltity to create new types of droids not just remakes of our lame modules that only through a loop hole CHs were able to enhance thier abilities. If you are looking for a portable creature cage I think a more appropriate class would be Architech, not DEs. We wish to be a fruitful class not just the support group for CHs.
Ok first off, lets keep this civil folks, personal attacks are unwarrented.
As a DE I'm pissed too that CHs get changes and we get shafted on a regular basis, but we are entitled to our own opinions. If you disagree, go ahead, but write it as a counterpoint, not a personal attack.
Yes, CHs only see things from thier point of view just as we only see things from ours. I remember when they first nerfed Datapads we all cried to have them changed back. Now that we have seen we can survive (Barely) with out those types of droids we are quick to go back to bickering we don't want to help CHs anymore (Again?). Our point is this. Just because it may make us a little more in sales does not mean it is such a great idea.
The DE point on a CH droid is this. CHs get all the benefit while the lowly DE gets a small short term benefit of sales. A good comprimise may be a 5 or 10 shot droid that will hold a creature after the uses are up you have to buy a new droid. This could be implemented like the BH droids, but is only a short term answer. Droids are not suppose to act as portable cages. This would be more like a droid that uses chemicals/stun charges to keep a creature under control. Thier should also be a feature that the droid can fail to control the creature and it runs amok. Just my two Creds.
Hello Jadelynn!
>>>its commentsl ike that which make me hate people, you guys where mad when they took away Droid storage. . because it made Data modules pointless. . now you say things like that when we suggest somthing that might Enhance or make up for your loss of sales from before? thats fine. . we can always suggest the BE's or artisans make a Storage compartment for our creatures. . I'am sure those professions would enjoy the extra income it would generate
With all due respect, I think it would be more appropriate for an artisan class to make such a 'creature storage module'. Droid Engineers should make droids.
I'm not primarily interested in making money for DEs. I AM primarily interested in making the DE profession a viable profession somewhat congruent with the way I imagine it would bein the Star Wars Universe. I don't think that Creature Handlershave a place in the Star Wars Universe. It doesn't make much sense to me. HOWEVER, having said this, I am perfectly content to tolerate this aberation as long as droids have their place. When I can only call one droid out, but an average player can call out two creatures, I am likewise confused. When I can only use a combat droid with the power of a beginning player and a CDEF pistol, yet the creaturesowned byall aremuch more powerful,I am again confused. The solution isn't to try to make one profession rely on the other. It's to establish a parity on these issues, which is affecting the DE profession in the game. To be in line with the way I imagine a Star Wars Universe to be, droids will have to become much more prevalent in the game.
Sincerely!
