Marc, I think he may have been to referring to something said a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...on the dev boards during beta.

That's the last time I heard anything about them initially being crafted, and it was that they would initially be craftable by artisans. Now, whether it'll be in the artisan tree itself or one of the elite professions is anyone's guess.

I remember it being said and it seems the definitive argument against DEs crafting vehicles. I personally am groing rather tired of all the questions of whether or not DEs will craft vehicles. I say that they WILL NOT. Granted, when a quote is dug up from many moons ago, it holds very little clout given SOEs tendency to greatly alter their plans. So, the correct answer really should be "we will have to wait and see what they do, but it is likely that DEs will not".

Regardless of how much the DE profession needs something and needs it quick, I just dont see how vehicles 'fit' into the DE profession.

Requiring components made by DE's maybe (especially when the space expansion hits - the Millennium Falcon had several droid brains for example) but I just dont see how they can justify them only being DE made

Well, considering they've already said they arnt creating a new profession fpr vehicles, its pretty likely that they will be crafted by Master Architects only.

Judging by previous "hot item" objects, the devs have made it so that they are exclusively craftable by an elite profession. Keeping that in mind, it seems unlikely that they'd allow anyone with Engineering IV (which, lets face it, is such a n00b skill box that you can easily grind to it in 2 hours) to build them. I'm probably wrong here, but I doubt it.

I would DE to be the vehicle crafters.. even if its just for a few months.. I would love to stick my middle finger up at all those CH's that are currently selling mounts for 50-150k ... but I'm being realistic here and I really can't see it happening.

As for Holocron's original post... read it to yourself "adding it to the engineering profession" ... he didn't have a clue what he was talking about when he posted that.
