LOL, it has only been a couple weeks since they admitted they had no idea what we wanted! How can they say 2 weeks later that the update is huge? They don't even know what to do yet. I am sure it is just in the itsy bitsy category on some guys desk to wade through.

To be even more accurate, Q-3PO asked us what we wanted to see back on 15-Aug. And even back then there already plenty of threads around that described exactly what we were asking for. But the dates and times are irrelevant past a certain point. They have clearly lost their credibility and now need to show real progress being made before they will be able to regain that credibility.

The problem is very basic. This is a business to them, it's a means to make money.

A.) When the players say they are leaving XYZ profession to do another profession... So what, SOE still gets their $15.00 per month and the metrics don't really concern them, we could All be CH and as long as we stayed and played and PAID, why notice.

B.) When players say they are leaving, but will keep their acct. active to come back when things improve, well once again SOE still gets their $15.00 per month while you pay not to have your characters deleted by them. An additional bonus.... lag improves with out them lifting a finger.

The only way they will notice and fix DEsis if ....

1.)People leave the game and post why and STOP paying SOE or

2.)Stay in theprofession and be the Squeaky Wheel and start the endless mass revolts that other professions with clout have used to get what they want.

Of course this all sounds cynical, I'm a DE, what did you expect.

I suspect Blair was simply echoing the same thing TH said - the droid game mechanics are so fundamental to the game code that its not trivial to change them (because essentially they will have to break the link with creature pets and code a whole droid system from the ground up)

What I fail to understand is why they arent/havent addressed the simple, easy problems such as DZ70 and Probot HAMs (my new lesserdewback, CL10) has over twice the HAM of my CL16 Probot!!!!), data modules holding waypoints etc these things would boost droid desirability and sales in the short term and tide us over until they finally get round to sorting it out properly (which I'm not holding my breath for and I suspect wont be until the new year after vehicles are in)

With respect to lost customers/accounts, dont kid yourself. The DEs are one of the smallest professions in the game (there was a breakdown on the front page of the main web site). Even if every DE quit the game right now it wouldnt impact on them significantly enough toeven be noticed probably. The worstr part for me is that droids are such a fundamental part of the SW universe that I just cant believe we ever got into this situation in the first place (if anything I would have expected our postition and that of the CHs to be reversed)

It was hit on the head a while back when someone (can't remember who it was, sorry!) said:

"Its obvious they are holding the DE profession back for the Space Expansion"

I agree with that. Its likely all these "big ideas" and "big updates" will come with the Space Expansion considering that (in theory) our products would (Should) be vital in the role of creating ships.

Don't expect anything major for a good 6 months.. and don't expect it to be a free update either.

or...

3) Do as I have. Leave the profession and continue to stir things up.

People are constantly complaining about how the game doesn't feel like start wars. Not just DE's, but many folks. DE's could be an integral part of restoring that feel. Until then, I feel almost forced into CH in order to make some money and actually survive missions. But, I still silently voice my opinion my running around with my Probot, Scrap, while riding my Kaadu, Chocobo. In combat I use my pets Pikachu and Raichu after giving the command, "Pikachu I choose YOU! Attack." (gotta love macro commands)

To say you will do something then not do it is a lie where I come from.

To say you will do something and then do it, but do it (much) later than promised is a missed deadline where I come from.

Ifthey actually do it, it is a missed deadline. Until then, it's a misleading statement at best. If they were to come back and say something to the effect that it's taking a bit longer, but these aresome of the things so far... That would be different than the current situation. The most important thing is communication. We aren't seeing that and it's a major problem.

I guess re-reading his message there was a bit of ambiguity in the language. On second blush I think your interpretations are right in that the work to create the publish will be huge and that doesn't imply any timeline for the publish to be released.

I also agree that the DE could be the big winner 6 months from now when ship are released. What troubles me is that DE's are a natural to make vehicles and it would certainly provide us with vital financial stimulation, but they have seemingly chosen to give this to Master Artisans (admittedly most of use are those) but the market will be saturated with potential sellers. If they aren't willing to entrust us with vehicles do you really think they will give us Space Ships, especially after a user shells out $$ for the expansion? Probably, not. From their perspective, I'mcertain they want to ensure a ready supply of vehicles and space ships, and therefore don't want us to have them because there are so few DE's.

We will not be getting vehicles to build when the Space Expansion comes out. I'm 99% positive that the Devs will add a "Vehicle Engineer" or some similar profession at that time. There would be too many vehicles to build, that adding them to an existing profession would not be viable.

Hopefully, though, vehicles will have a slot for R-series droids, that can improve the performance/defenses of the vehicles.

I think we've all vented enough over the past few days. We've voiced our frustrations, we've let them know we are WAY angry. I think that letting it all out is theraputic in some ways. The good news is that most of our venting has not only been theraputic, but some of it has actually been constructive as well. Let's leave it at that, ok? Let's keep it on that almost positive note. Let's drop it and go on. If you still feel the need for blood, either change professions or leave the game. Getting ugly serves no purpose and makes all of us look both foolish and immature. We won't get anywhere that way.

Well said. Thanks.
