Character was CL5

Droid was CL30

Need xp so had to group with droid to benefit.

There were 2Level 22 Scyks in the area so had it attack one. However I didn't have any Droid Repair Kits on me and it died when the 2nd Scyk joined in the fight. But it did manage to bring down the first with my help. Now when I tried this with my non combat character who was Level1 with a Level 30 droid grouped attacking a Level 11 it immediately died.

Conclusion : Does the combat ability (has melee or ranged skills) make a difference with grouping?
