Is droid armour rated as Medium 40% actually working as the title suggests it should be

I really like that wishlist.

Im not a Droid Engineer but a Miner. Droids need to be useful in some way, I want to use droids. Having droids walk aroound and dig like harvesters (As you know we cant place mines on hills etc) would be both cool and practical.

Also, I would love to be able to order a talking droid to talk (IE: do a /say through the droid) Can that be so hard to implement? It would for sure enchance roleplay and i could buy a droid for 100k just to get that ability.

Sorry for the re-post: Please add:

One of the largest problems with droids is that they are multipurpose – customizable – it wreaks havoc with the SOE EQ logic that a ‘droid of smiting +3’ can also be a ‘droid of healing +4’. How do you certify that? (I’ll propose something later but I think the SOE team basically looked at droid customization and surmised that this would make it impossible to allow a certification system to be put in place – e.g. would it be fair that a commando allowed a Probot cert be allowed to also have a med module 5 in it, when doctors can only get Surgical Droid certification which can have a med module 5 but can’t attack).

My Idea: Certification for Controller Kits Which Unlock Droid Function

In dusting off my movie memory I recalled the inconsistency of droid control – where the entire droid army needed a controlling spaceship and specific character who controlled the panel (see the bridge scene on the Ep1 Trade Federation Droid Control ship where the droid army is deployed) – compared to the arena scene of Ep2 where it seemed no one (visible to us) was controlling the droids – they simply obeyed the commands of Dokku. The idea anyways of forcing the requirement of some type of controlling device did not seem “un-SW”. (Yes I still agree droids should be semi/autonomous).

Instead of certification for droids themselves, introduce certification for Controller Kits which allow droid radial menu options to become unlocked:

1) Advanced Combat Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Intermediate level Elite Combat Classes (Bounty Hunter, Carbineer, Combat Medic, Commando, Fencer, , Pistoleer, Pikeman, Ranger, Rifleman, Swordsman, Squad Leader, Teras Kasi), Granted to DE as soon as Kit can be made

Allows: ATTACK, PATROL and GUARD program functions to become unlocked from droid radial menus/conversation menus, UP TO THREE DROIDS OUT AT A TIME

2)Basic Combat Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Novice level Combat Classes (Brawler, Marksman, Scout) Granted to DE as soon as Kit can be made

Allows: ATTACK, PATROL and GUARD program functions to become unlocked from droid radial menus/conversation menus, single droid only out at a time

3) Crafting Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Elite Crafting Classes and Healing Classes

Allows: Crafting Modules in Droid to become active – schematics become available as does experimentation (all the benefits of the crafting station as long as Elite can utilize that station)

4) Medical Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Elite Healing Classes

Allows: Bonuses to Healing, when droid out healing outside city/camp (all the benefits of the med module)

Basic Modules do not require a Controller Kit, any droid can be bought or sold with these modules and they will work:

Storage

Data

Armor

(Repair)

(Power)

(Sensor)

List looks great. A couple of comments:

1) The list mentions that DE's can have more than one droid out, but doesn't say anything about non-DE's. It occurs to me that the repeat business problem might be lessened if all players could haveone combat droid andone non-combat droid out at the same time. I have longed for 2 droids outsince I started playing.

2) Bifurcatedroid functions: (1) Probots, Battle Droids (new), Super Battle Droids (new), and Droideka's (new) cannot take function modules at all. Instead they would only take armor modules, data and item storage, and a new attack module that allows you to specify the kind of damage the droid does (heat, acid, etc.); (2) All other droids can takefunction modules.

3) Functions to add for droids: I liked the slicing idea for R2's. How about a crafting (one or two point experimentation bonus) function for treadwells and/or or R units, and a faction bonus/decreased cost of travelfunction for protocol droids, making them a droid ideal for traveling to far away or dangerous places(like smuggler but would stack with smuggler; protocol droids in the movies smoothed situations out between others, it makes sense that they would have a similar function here).

4) I have not been able to get power bots to take repair modules. I don't know if this is intended, but the game treats the repair module as if it is not there.

5) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the idea of having the mind bar bethe battery gauge for droids. This gives the powerbot a real function, and I think it is really exciting! This should be at the very top of the list! One addition...the droid should not be incapped when mind gets to zero, it should just lose functionality (won't attack, won't serve as crafting station, etc.). This would be close to the current situation, where the droid spams "low power" at you, but will continue to follow you if you get stuck without batteries. Call it a power saver function...the droid shuts down all non-essential functions (and stops losing mind)until you can recharge it. Droids should not be able to break themselves by incapping while doing nothing but sitting still. I also think, regardless of it being a power gauge, that mind shots (like from riflemen) should still effect the mind pool. All of you remember Short Circuit II? When the thugs beat up Johnny 5 (a bot) he lost battery power and had to repair his battery to live.

6) Regarding the zone line bug. I don't think the language does this justice. First, I have found that I have to continually mash my macroed "follow" button to get the droid to move sometimes. Regiving the drid the follow command is hit and miss, and I ofter have to repeat it. Also the zone line is the tip of the iceberg. Droids currently HATE player structures and often won't move through them without several pausesif you are running through an area with lots of them. I don't know if thedroids see player structures differently than static structures, but I think this bug is much more annoying than the zone line bug.

Oh another great idea for droid functions... Give the lifter droids surveying and sampling functions. Make it so that yousurvey a resource yourself to set the applicable resource. You wouldthen hit some command in the droid's radial, after the droid would then walk to the highest concentration of the material (note: I am talking about the absolute highest, not just the one on the radar). The droid would basically continuously survey and change direction to face the new highest concentration and would stop when it go to the absolute highest. After following the droid to the highest concentration, the droid would also have a command tosample just like artisans can. This allows double sampling (the player and the bot), and could be used to avoid the ramifications of sampling radioactive materials.

Before I get flamed for this, it also would not be able to be done by AFK players...the droid would eventually run out of batteries, so the player would need to be there to "feed the meter." Also, non-artisans would get no use out of this droid as they cannot survey to set the initial resource.

I feel there is a need for decay on droids, as there is no Perma Death (which in the short term is good for the DE but long term people will no longer need to buy another probot as its ever-lasting).

Its not ever lasting, its got vitality just like CH pets.. It makes a nice long term investement that will need to be replaced at some point.. How long depends on how well you take care of it..

Personally im very hard on my probots, but I can make another when I needto*shrug*

Since they "fixed" the data storage modules...all that will go in is Schematics! They need to allow Droid & Pet Controle Devices to be stored again and allow them to be sold on the bazaar and Vendors!!

Has anyone tested the Data droids and the R-4s?

I have seen posts that say it is fixed and then when I test it it is not fixed. I do know that for me, datastorage droids do not work. I have intermediate blueprints and every data storage droid will open but not allow waypoints or droids to be stored. I have not tried schematics.

Maybe I just thought I saw that itwas fixed. if so sorry my bad..

Data modules were nerfed, er, fixed so that pets could no longer be stored in the droid's datapad. The Devs considered that an exploit.

From reading this forum, armor modules in the basic probot is currently bugged?

So only the resists matter and that the armor rating (light/medium)?

Anyone can confirm this?

From my limited experimentation, armor is bugged regardless of the droid it's placed in. It's not just limited to the basic or advanced probot.
