Thread: Theory about why we can't color our droids
First of all Congrats to Cyprian for making Master DE the other day on Naritus! Woot!
Second understanding how other crafters "color" things could go a long way to helping us figure out why our colorization doesnt work. For instance, does anyone know which step clothes are colored in? My guess would be that the tailors color during the actual construction process and do not color a piece of fabric then put it in. So if they color in the production of the final product and we color chassis in only a piece of the final product, maybe they is why we are having it screw up...
So here is my solution: Have it so that you can color chassis like we already can for ppl who want them in houses. Just add a colorization menu to the production of the Deeded droid itself by replacing that stupid "squared deed" icon with the actual droid AND its color. Thiswould solve several problems, such as coloring but most importantly, make it so ppl going through the vendorswould be able to see what a treadwell or Dz70or surgical droid looks like.

Very insightful, guys. I firmly believe that there are a great many issues like this that would really be very quick and easy fixes - extended information when examining a droid, for example. Yet they are just not putting ANY development time into it. I don't know how they can possibly justify this in light of some of the work that's been done on other classes in the meantime. I mean, bugs before beauty, right?
Anyway, that's my 2cr on the matter.

droid colorization wasnt implemented yet. droid chassis colors are just for decoration. the real droid coloring will come from /customizedroid, which will be done after the droid is tamed. target droid and use the command. i dont know specifics because there arent any yet, since its not in.
ive read this somewhere, forget where, but it was something they wanted to put in with the last big patch but never did. or maybe even before it.
but anyway the chassis will most likely never affect the color of the final droid, even when colorization is in. its all after taming, and will have to be redone every now and then due to the customization lifespan. i like the sounds of this system, possibly a return customer thing. like being a tailor for droids.
I got a good word replacement for "Tame" ![]()
how about Activate? ![]()
All in all I think the deed system is messing up the coloring options.
and if I haven't said it 1000 times yet then I will say it again. Eventually then need to add some sort of programming feature that we can all play with. Something as diverse as macroing, if not more to it than just that.
I want to see waypoint commands, actions, little animations you can script, sounds you can program, text holograms for delivering messages, R units should repair, less repetitive and more sounds(this these sounds can be scripted also), enhance surveying or radar range,.....
I could go on, but I don't want the Devs to just fix what we have now, I want them to eventually add more! As of now Droids have no appeal, no wow factor! Heck Pet's do more things than most droids do! it's so embarassing to the profession ![]()
Alas, I will stop
Poor, poor DE's the ones that are left are so optimistic for results.... *sniff*
From being in beta, your theory is rather accurate.
The "deed" system was implemented very late in beta. Actually, I didn't see one until we went live.
I'm also pretty sure at some point the Devs have confirmed this - the customization is lost in the deed process.
