Thread: Can some one offer some DE help?

OK... you took all that time to basically flame me for using a crafting macro to get where I am, and you didnt even answer a single question. Maybe I dont have tons of resources to make 100 droids to just figure out what capabilties a droid can have.
Did you not look at the stickies at the top? Especially the one titled "FAQs, Guides, and Assorted Droid Engineering Links" ?????

I read the stickies, and the otherposts on the forums.... but when 95% of theposts are people complaining that the new probot looks ugly or that the devs don't give us DEs any love, it kinda makes trying to find your answer annoying. SO... What do I do?
Try using the "Search" tool (/pointingdown) and select the DE profession forum as theroom/forum to search in for a certainconcern or question you have.
That's what it's there for, afterall.
You could also try finding a nice MDE(that's not busy) on your server toanswer a few quick questions for you.
Those are just 2 thoughts that come to mind.
I place my own post hoping that people that actually want to help will do just that. I did get some great information from those people.... but I got alot of other hits from people kinda just on here to flame.
It's not that they are here just to flame. I think a lot of veteran DEs are fed up answer the same 800 questions from new DEs (Holo-grinders or otherwise). You probably are too, if you are a "helper" in your own profession.
Just realize that there's a lot to know about droids...there aren't really simple answers. You really, really ARE best off to spend your time NOT macro'ing anything. Actually make and use some droids, as you expect it might be done 'for real'. That will tell you, along with the info you find using the Search tool on these forums, all that you will likely need to know to get up to speed.
I asked for basic prices for some droids... I get look on the sticky... it says 5k for an akryd droid.
For a set of 5 Arakyds, yes. Don't rely on ANY pricing you see on these forums. Price is NEVER 'set' on any/all servers but there are price 'windows' on each server.
Your best bet is to do a bit of market research on your server to find out the going price from a handfull of other higher-level DEs.
Done.
In my capacity with the DEA, I've always advocated trying to press your prices a bit higher to help offset the amount of 'dumping' that happens when unknowing (or knowing) DEs drop super-cheap droids on the market. Do yourself a favor.........don't sell that way. You don't need to do it.
I don't know if it's outdated, but I know, if I charged 5k each for something that get's 10 uses... and in the BH investigations tree those 2 BH droids are broken (see the BH forums)... people won't pay that price.
You're going to need to be okay with letting these people goelsewhere then. Really.
Iknow you may not want to hear that butit's true. There simply aren't clients that you can please. After you start playing 'for real' (instead of macro crafting), you're going to find out that some playersdon't understand droids at all and have somepretty unconsciously ignorant ideas of what a "good price" is for a droid.
You'llsee.....trust me.
You guys should be a little nicer to the new DE.... lol.It seems with all the complaints I see on these forums, more people would be willing to show us what they can, wish us luck, and get the hell out of the profession if they don't like it anymore.
Try chef... it's completely revamped. BUT, since I'm such a nice girl, I'll help you guys out since I've been in alot of professions in case you want to try something else:
BH: droids dont track properly; no defenses; attacks rarely stick
Yes...most DEs know all of that (thanks to Gorantoth's excellent bug issues thread. Learn it, know it, love it).
commando: acid tree doesn't work, grenades rarely hit target
weaponsmith: critical failures happen alot... even at master (esp when you use krayt tissues)
CH: the devs made pets weak... therefore hard to get xp
BE: was broken since beginning, was fixed great; pets too powerful, going to be fixed... see CH.
smuggler: you have to get a crap load of locked containers to get any where in slicing
As you can see, every profession you go in, it's not going to be how you'd like it.
How we "like" a profession has not the first thing to do with what does or does not work, how the different 'specials' or schematics or tools function, how to "use" a particular game feature or function, etc.
Don't confuse the two, please. It is THAT kind of thinking that will get you flamed....I promise.
To be honest, looking at your past list of professions, it appears that you have a somewhat more combat-minded orientation. That's all well and good...so do I (at times). You need to understand that a lot of being a DE is based on the crafter/merchant/salesman mentality. If you want to really play with the big boys in the profession on your server, you'll need to starting thinking and acting that way.
Just my two denominations of your local currency. Enjoy.
Respectfully,

Ooo, I should also add that since you can only call one droid out of your pad at a time, even if you have black bars on one of your droids, you'll have to know someone else with a repair module equipped droid to fix your droid. Ahhh, the convenience and ease of droid ownership.
I made a DZ70 with a repair module. I usually wait until I'm in a group, and then we play a rousing game of "pass the droid" until everyone's favorite metal friends are repaired. The chat log usually looks like:
"Transfer"
"Repair"
"ty"
"Transfer"
"np"
"Repair"
"Transfer"

Does reading the FAQ take too long?

We're only being hard on you because you're supposedly a Master.
Agreed. If youre a master and dont know this stuff *cough* hologrinder *cough*, and these kinds of posts are what youre generally going to put up, please dont. Just dont. Leave. Dont come back.
i'm not a hologrinder... i dont think there should be jedi in this game period. i'm just trying to find a profession that i enjoy doing. afterexperimenting i found out that if i use 2 level 4 storage items it can hold the level 10 max. until i find the specific resources to make level 6 modules, i have to get by with stacking level 4 modules. I managed putting together an R2 ADV droid with a food/chem crafting station, 110 medical functionality, 10 item holder, andmedium armor 40% resists. I used the R2 ADV because it gives you the option to make the service package (which can hold 3 modules) and then added the seperate service mods int he other 2 slots.
