Thread: How to grind your way to Master Droid Engineer
i was told by my first holo to master DE and the think that takes so long about htis prof is getting all the resources
it took me 1 week to get 0004 and i had my own harvestors and bought amounts 40k steel
if you can get all the resources before you start then it will be easy and would only take about 1 day to master
i advise investing in some medium harvestors, one for fiberplast, one for steel and one for energy (if you wanna keep things simple) just gotta keep an eye on them and remember to turn them on lol and move them when the resource is gone
Also, my server is Ahazi, and my online name is Edoha
Leave it to SOE to mess up the name on the Forums... **edit** is Edhora? lol
Edhora, hopefully I can clear some things up for you:
In answer to your first question, you will need to make a macro for each of your crafting tools, so if you have 10 tools, you'll need 10 macros. Just to not assume you know how to make a Macro, hit Ctrl-A, then go to the macros tab, there you'll be able to make New or Edit your macros. I name my macros for each tool, such as DETool1, DETool2, DETool3, etc. If you want to get creative, pick icons that have numerical representations, like the music notes, but that's just for fun.
So for your first macro, you'd do as you mentioned, use slot 00, select schematic 199 or whatever you need. For DETool2, select slot 01, etc until you have a macro for all of your tools.
Personally, I don't have these macros calling each other, I just finish with a create prototype and then when the crafting screen goes away, I click or key the next macro. Gives the left hand something to do while the right hand is double clicking into carpal-tunnel happiness.
Remember when you are doing the macros that case is usually sensitive, semi-colons are not optional and spaces are not optional. If your macro isn't doing the right thing, review it letter for letter and verify that it matches what's posted here and elsewhere.
I hope this helps some, I'm just starting down DE, but have ground all through DR using this macro and minor variations thereof. Feel free to keep posting here if it doesn't work or you have questions. Or e-mail me on the forums and I'll respond.
Good luck to you!

this happens after /selectDraftSchematic xxx
2) Also, do i have to click "assemble" after i double-click on the materials needed?
please enlighten. thanks.
1) Is the "The Crafting Session has Ended" popping up once or twice? Also look and see if the numbers show up on your crafting tools. You should get 1 "The Crafting Session has Ended" after each grind, unless you crit fail or are too slow on loading the resources, in which case it will flash up twice.
2) If you follow the macro as listed, then no, you don't have to hit assemble, that's what the "Next Crafting Stage" commands do for you.
macroing for droid engineer is pretty useless unless you got alot of resources. I used to chew through 100k xp an hour without a macro. The least of the de newbs worries is a crafting macro,go get 1 rate 14 fusion gen,3 medium rate 10 chem harvesters,6 rate 10 med mineral harvesters. If you cant afford the above make personal harvesters and sellore until you can afford the above. ( 3k credits for 500 units of ore, and the architects will love you, and dont pay more than 40k for any rate 10 medium harvester)
Lay your min on steel, your fusion on radio active, and your chem on fibroplast. Once you have this done then worry about getting a crafting macro going. Otherwise your going to be paying through your *** for resources.
Just to add a bit more to the macro thingy...
Even if you run multiple tools, you still only need one macro. The trick is to have the macro call the next tool in the production line.
My macro is "installed" in the upper left block on a blank toolbar (slot 00)andcrafting tools are "installed"in thesubsequentslots.Looks like this: (macro linesare in red- notes are in parenthesis and do not need to be typed into the macro)
/ui action toolbarSlot01; (calls the tool in the second toolbar slot)
/sel XXX; (selects the schematic #)
/pause 3; (allows *just* enough time for me to click on my resources - your pause time may/will vary here)
/nextC;
/nextC;
/nextC; (these three linesskip past theoption screens, including experimentation if applicable)
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item; (these two lines ensure that practice is "on" and no physical item is created)
/pause 3; (allows time for the current evolution to end before the next tool is called)
/ui action toolbarSlot02; (thisline calls the next crafting tool in the next toolbar slot)
After the last line, simply repeat thepreceeding line, changing only the last line to incrementally jump to the next tool in the next toolbar slot. I have 6 tools running, and after the 6th tool is complete, the last line simply reads:
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
This recalls the macro from the beginning, effectively looping it and requiring no other intervention.
If you need to stop the macro for any reason, simply type /dump into the chat window. This will clear any running macro(s).
I'm grinding hard, but by choice rather than due to Holo madness.I like to master things quickly because I'm an impatient player LOL
Once you're able to make the Advanced Droid Frame, yielding over 450 XP a pop in practice mode, boxes fill rather quickly. It's all in the resources at that point - if you have the materials, you *will* make master very rapidly.
I look forward to being a Master soon myself, and joining the ranks of other disgruntled, currently-broken-profession-havin' folks. ![]()
