I tell you what, with my 3 Master crafting professions and all excess sp going to Merchant, Id like a "little" help when going out for harvester maintenance.........for a truly dedicated crafter (thats ALL I do)......Id like to not have to clone three times just to empty a harvester with OQ 200 ore ........a combat probot that can withstand a Mauler Acolyte mob, etc would be nice.....even the ability to "bribe" or "payoff" mobs to leave you be would be nice.

Drashk, excellent post.. I hate to say I told you so but I knew this was on the horizen pre-CU time. Was expecting to hear how the DC/DH was going to be put off again, therefore meaning DE would continue to be less purposeful in the greater SWG scheme. Strangely the changes to combat dont really worry me as i used to run around with no buffs or armor and get hurt allot i never minded a little danger.


What concerns me is this Droid levels thing your proposing, didnt we talk about this before? I thought the dev's response was something along the lines of no free checkers? Not that i would mind such a system, but I thought we beat this horse ultra dead(past the glue and paste point).


Lastly I do realize that people, espcially newer crafters, are going to be truly hamstringed by these changes. I use a variety of means to get the resources i need but an many cases i have so much more that i use that i dont have to go to harvs nearly as much as when i started. for those newer crafters i can forsee them being very, very unhappy with having to fight off a variety of nigh-impossible mobs just to check or place harvs...which frankly imho isnt very fair.

Thanks for clearing up my concern Drashk.


Now, I'm dating myself here, but it seems to me that this would be workable for the simple fact that the entire player level system seems like a "free checker" Since it confers major advantages in damage dealt and aggro-ability. I think the option for increased droid control would be a valid counter "checker" since I can't imagine a droid powerful enough to tank any mob in any capacity other than to aid escape. Since a powerful droid that doesnt count toward your 'level' would actually harm your xp gain potential (at the benefit of added survivablilty) there seems little potential for abuse.

I would prefer that each elite crafting profession gets a distinct ability that could be used in combat, such as armorsmiths being able to decrease the effectiveness of a targets armor (not permanently) or a Droid engineer being able to stun droid NPC's and ships.

Weaponsmiths lower the possible damage output of a weapon temporarily.

Architechts be able to make/use a bomb that could be used against structures to do significant damage.

Tailors could set up camo nets that could hide other players from an enemies view until the affected players attack or move.


Shipwrights could uh.. Im not sure...


well I like my idea because it doesnt let any crafting profession hold their own against anything, but could be very useful in a group, such as in a DWB or Vette Raid. Of course, im speaking out of experience, my guild does raids on the DWB often, me being the droid engineer, for a while I couldnt last very long at all, even fully armored and buffed in there, so I got some pistoleer skills, even now, im the guy standing in the corner that dies when MOB's glance at me, and most docs that go on the raids with me in the group dont enjoy being tasked with either keeping me alive or having to DRAG me to the DE room door, but attempting to doeither gets them killed too.
