Thread: AS is screwed resource wise

Sorry to intrude here, just kinda wandered over from the AS forums as the flames, rants, and general unhappiness over there is getting on my nerves to say the least. Now the problem the AS community is getting hit with yes is resource requirements and stats on said resources (was OQ+SR primary to OQ+UT then changed back to OQ+SR with the added DR on final combine). The biggest concern tho is the added need for MASSIVE ammounts of hide and bone in order to compete with the added mass retirement of Rangers due to no bonuses at the master level to HAM and whatnot. I as a fairly low level AS can't compete with this and only am able at current to sell maybe a suit or two of armor per week, due to lack of exerimentation tapes, meager supply of quality resources, and now the before mentioned items of concern. The other thing that has us up in arms in that instead of the large variety of armor that could be produced due to having four experimentation lines (Condition, encumberance, base resistance, and special resistance) there is now only one that can be experimented on for overall resistance. This in turn turns an old time 12pt AS into nothing more special than a newbie 10pt AS. Starting to see the concerns of the community yet?


Personally I'm thinking of dropping AS for DE before the curb hits as I wont be able to compete in this market anymore, and I know that droids are coming VERY difficult to locate on tempest. Just simple supply and demand here so I think I've pretty well made up my mind and will be doing this to augment my Master Artisan/Master Weaponsmith alt. There's just too much competition from the big boys that have tons of credits to get the organics in the qty I will need to compete.


I'm not here to flame or start a flamewar, but I think that if your profession had been changed as drastically as this you'd be a bit upset too. Yes new resource requirements can be a good thing but not the complete and utter revamping and obliteration of a once proud community that is happening right now.

The upside is that at least you will sell more armor overall. It decays faster now, so will need replacing faster, instead of just advanced armor, you will sell lower levels as well. This means overall more sales then you currently have.


As DE's the past few months have made a very large portion of our droids useless, the CU looks to be adding a couple more to that list.







I dont want to have to keep my vendor stocked with tons of cheap noob armor.... I actually liked making some of the best stun comp on my server... I was getting 355k per suit a month ago.


I dont care about the new exotic resource requirements on the new layers. Ialready have all the exotics I need now after a solid day of vendor browsing. (and i generally buy/mine any resource at the top of its class that shifts in.... been doing that for a year)


What I DO care about is the dumbing down of my experiment process. I want to tweak my stuff and try to push the envelope, now some noob smith will come along and slap together a bunch of junky resources and 4 crappy layers and his suit will look just like mine.... except for the fact that mine has more condition and only used 1-2 layers vs 4. /shakehead

I also want to add something for my DE friends to think about.


For over a year we have complained about only one line of exp mattering, little variety in droids, 12 points not mattering more then 10. We have kept the faith that our cries are beigng heared and someday our problems will be "fixed."


Lose faith.


The "major" AS gripes are not about resources old or new (although those arguements are valid to some extent,) the bigest gripes from the AS profession is about the dumbing down of making armor. Basically, they are taking armorsmith and turning it's crafting into DE crafting.


Fight this.


How likely is it that we will ever be improved and "fixed" when other professions are actually beingbrought down to our level.


Changes like this are exactly what makes me feel at times that a years worth of complaints have just been ignored.

Ohhh don't get me wrong, I agree with everything that you just posted. I rant and rave about the same "simplicity" in our crafting as well. Point me to a good AS thread on the topic, and I will rant and rave on that one as well. In fact, let me go make a post right now.
