Although those that find them useful find them very useful, most people would much rather be able to actually store waypoints in them.
Or possibly having a droid with data storage in your pad could give you extra data storage in your data pad. (Okay, I think that made sense...)
I get a request for that every few days, from self-described "waypoint junkies".

Not having the ability to store waypoints in a data module is a pain, but not really that big of a deal. You can get the exact same unlimited functionality for free by using a pencil and a piece of paper. And if you're too lazy to just type '/waypoint 420 420' cuz yer datapad is full, well, I gots no sympathy for ya. =)
