I'm not talking trash, i'm simply telling you whats what. the devs said that making the game fun for more people is more important to them than preserving continuity. accept it. all the complaining about it in the world does you nothing. no point in whining about something that they've already announced wont happen.
I don't think she was expecting anything to happen from her post, just sharing an interesting idea she had about how they could have got around the continuity issue. It's just a discussion, relax. Nothing wrong with someone sharing their views. Thought that was what this place was for.

Thankyou Korvas.
I think your opinion is a very valid one as well.
As I said before, it was only an idea. one borne of whimsy really.

Ok ok. I KNOW continuity seems to have flown out of the window already, but I have a rather radical (as in extreme not 'kool') Idea.
Why not do a reality shift?
I mean do a publish that's nothing but shifting the game either backward to the rise of the empire era (very difficult I know), Or do a reality shift to the new Jedi Order era. (much easier) (now keep in mind I HATE the new jedi order era, but I hate poor continuity even more)
Shifting to the new Jedi Order era would basically be not much different than things are now. Some toons would have to be change. No more vader or palpatine, but there are plenty of NPCs that could take their place. No more imperial crackdown, but you'd still see forces of the empire as even well into the Yushemm Vhong (did I spell that right?) war there are STILL pockets of Empireal control around. Basically, change the toons and give them new script and things would basically be the same as they are now, but with slightly better continuity.
Yes I KNOW there are a lot more changes than just that that would have to be made, Like Jabba he Hutt. Just replace him with Bob the Hutt. or whatever his name would be. For every Hutt crime boss that dies, there are 5 more to take his place. Hutts live up to a thousand years, you can't tell me there was NO hutts ready to jump in line in Jabba's absence.
There it is. Not the best Idea, not even really a feasable one, just a little thing I cooked up.
you go girl you ignore that troll, and continue to preach!

She has a valid IDEA! Infact if you read my damn reply before, you would see that Lucas Arts already sanctioned a game with this idea in place called Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. SOE could have easily followed suit with it and continued on that idea. SOOOO go troll somewhere else and stop mashing ppls ideas and thoughts.
Good job Ihareo! Keep up the good posts.

I wish all the people that bring up the continuity issues would do so for all the other aspects of this game. The numerous Jedi are only one aspect of continuity breaking. Here's a few other things from continuity that you could preach in your crusades:
Pulling pets from your pocket. Gotta love how you can walk through Coronet with a rancor following behind you.
Melee fighting. I just loved how during the battle of endor when a lone rebel commander decided to run up to an AT-ST with a power hammer and defeat it solo. I also loved on Hoth how they all decided to drop their blasters and run up to each other and do gymnastics with red ribbons flowing behind them to beat on each other.
Faction fighting. I love seeing soo many storm troopers in imperial clothing in this game. Instead everyone is walking around in composite armor. Heck even the Jedi wore composite armor until the cries got loud enough that we got nerfed.
Cites. I just loved when Luke needed to head to Action Gamers Imperial City on Naboo to pick up a new speeder before heading to Endor. The Krayt Grave yard is more like a theme park, complete with shuttle ports, rather than a remote trek into the desert to find one of the most feared beasts in the galaxy. The same could be said for many POI's being themed shuttle rides.
Cloning vs Bacta. Cloning was banned by the empire. Yet we clone everywhere. Shouldn't we be using bacta tanks instead?

I agree with Ihareo (and AnXdiety).
Disclaimer: I am in no way knocking/flaming anyone's playstyles and/or opinions. Nor am I flaming/attacking the devs and the current game systems. I will continue to play this game and personal circumstances allowing, carry on trying to get my Jedi character.
"Can I become a Sith Lord in the game?
No, although players may someday be able to become Dark Jedi, they will not be able to become Sith Lords. The films explicitly state that there are only two Sith Lords at any given time, and the two during the time of Star Wars Galaxies have been clearly identified as the Emperor and Darth Vader"
- Official Jedi FAQ
"When gone am I the last of the Jedi will you be" - Yoda speaking to Luke, RoTJ
This new Jedi system just sticks out like a sore thumb in terms of continuity and would be better set inbetween Episodes 2 and 3. No problem having Jedi/Dark Jedi running around, an established Jedi council whose NPC members could have something to do with the FS quests (Imagine Mace Windu turning up to see you upon completing your quests and inviting you to join the Jedi order
)
The underlying systems need not change. There is a conflict going on; Republic v Separatists. The purge is getting underway; BH's can still get player Jedi missions. However all this is not going to happen for two fundamental reasons.
1) The amount of resources it will take to change the art assets is phenomenal
2) Take out Imperial v Rebel, Darth Vader/Emperor/Luke/Han/Chewie/xwings/ties and a LOT of people won't play (Consider the amount of negativity surrounding the EU and the prequels)
Maybe SOE can release a separate version of SW:G
(I'd certainly switch)

I think this is a good idea... but I think they should slowly move toward it in the story arcs. They could easily move the timeline forward through story arcs and have specific missions we can help with. And after JTL comes out we could go on the missions to destroy the death star. ( dont know what imps would do in the story arc but I'm sure we could think of something).
Anyway one day after doing the monthly (monthly? yeah right) story arc missions we would find ourselves at the point where Luke starts the Jedi Academy.
Pretty cool if you ask me.

some facts:
-
people like the original trilogy, stormtroopers, ties, xwings, emperor, vader... and seeing these in game -
people like jedi and being one -
most people dont know / like post episode VI stuff ...
i think that's enough
