Thread: Could someone please direct me to the SOE post acknowledging the Publish 21 droid breakage?

You have to have the skill in order to get your droid to do it..... Except the combat droids.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

Only two things do I disagree with.

It is intentional...whether by omission or commission DE is being destroyed as a profession, and frankly it matters not whether the perpetrators are simple Devs or besuited managers. This began long long before Pub 21.

You appear to presume that the Dev team is, by and large, typical of any other commercial team of developers. Not so. Here live Devs with their own favourite professions, and be quite sure that not one of them has DE as his or hers. Not only that but by inference you suggest that the QA team is similarly typical of teams in the commercial field. This QA team wouldn't last a week in the real world of competitive commercial software development, and if you do have the experience you claim, then you know this to be undeniably true

My keyboard is soaked with salty droplets.

I am a member of a Space-based Guild that already has a shipwright, CH, Architect and Doctor.

Being a fairly new player (only 80+ days - still a baby really) I have been spreading my skills fairly equally, trying to decide what exactly I wanted to do career-wise.

I want to do something that will benefit my fellow Guild Members, and had only recently decided to become a DE, as astromechs and flight computers are such an integral part of Space Combat.

Full of enthusiasm and n00b optimism, I headed to this forum to find out what wisdom my future DE peers could impart.

The wisdom comes in the shape of a warning sign:

Abandon all hope, ye who enter!

I am still fairly low on the artisan tree, so maybe, (sigh of desparation) MAYBE they will have this fixed before it would cause me problems.

(Probably not)

CRACK!

(That was the sound of my <3 breaking. I really wanted to be a DE!)

They never should have rolled out CH changes if it breaks DE. They should have fixed the problems with DE first. So sloppy.

I was under the impression that /detonate had problems since Pub 21. Is that not the case?

I've sold 5 detonate droids since Publish 21 .. mind you they were made after Publish 18 at least so maybe not messed up. But had no complaints yet. Nor from my BHs that have been buying my vendor our every weekend. But then during my tests I could only get 1 droid not to work and another stopped working the next day. Its got to the point where I test every droid I tested then every day I log in just in case it breaks over night

So far, with all these droid problems since Publish 18 I have only managed to acquire the armor bug, the trapper droid bug and the entertainer droid bug. All have been /bugged by myself. But as for all the other problems being reported I cannot see any pattern occuring that what I've been doing doesn't break.

Ahh but there is one thing ye must know.

CH is a preferred profession to DE, always has been and always will be. The original designers were ex-Ultima OnlineTamers by and large.

Not to suggest CH doesnt have / hasnt had its own problems, but DE doesn't even feature on the radar.

Cynical?..probably but true nonetheless.

Or you could take a look at this (http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/combat_upgrade/) and see which of the pet related occupations are shown on it .... I won't ruin the surpise by telling you

I don't want to get into a whole thing here, but I really don't think it is a valid argument to say that DE is less important that CH simply because CH was included in the CU.

Naturally, a CH would make a better tank than a DE, in my opinion. A CH is the role of a hunter / tamer, someone who spends time in the wild and would be a fighter. A DE on the other hand, is a crafter. She or he may spend time in the wild hunting, but the primary role is that of a crafter, not a fighter.

So, the DE is naturally not included in the CU, as are others.

Now, that the code was put up to modify CH that adversely affected DE is foolish at best, I must agree. But, it is not foolish for the reason that most would think. It is just ignorant to have to unrelated occupations have linked systems. I understand that it is MUCH easier from a development standpoint, but it is simply not practical, and a really flawed decision in the first place and should be corrected.

Sorry, was just pointed out that the main changes occuring since the CU have literally been just for those. Admittedly a few have sneaked through for other roles but looking at the percentages .. seems like they're only looking at non CU related professions 5% of the time ... I'm sure I'm not the only one that play the game for that reason.

It was my measly attempt at sarcasm.

Thats why it was a Combat Upgrade. It also was a Crafter Downgrade too.
