Thread: OK, I've decided. I do not support MSE suicide bombers.

I like the idea of making MSE's into little bombs. It's a fun and quirky thing to do as a Droid Engineer.

I wonder who came up with this silly idea Mouse droids are sposed to be little annoying droids that go around town performing various mundane tasks for their owner. We all see them running around and do our best to just ignore them.. so who would expect them to be spying on you!.. I mean blow up on you! O_O It's sure a crazy idea I say, but it kind of fits just right into Star Wars

I don't know, something about it doesn't feel quite right, but on the other hand it wouldn't be the first time I've done it (in the original WEG Star Wars RPG game). I think part of a crafting profession is the ability to modify, jurry rig, and change things to do what they were never meant to do (as long as there is a chance that something will go wrong). I could see this being equivalent to a jurry rig, in that it *should* work, but ever once in a while something doesn't go quite right and it goes off to early, or not at all.... I don't know, just my thoughts.

I like the idea. It would add to the fact that droids aren't prebuilt things we can plug functionality into. Anakin made 3PO from spare parts (or fixed him or whatever, I was never sure). Why can't we "clip" a MSE's personality to do what we tell it to? Why can't we turn our droids from intelligent to mindless automotons (like the droid army from EP1)? We can make the personality chips and plug it into any of the "converse" droids, why can't we simply leave it out and put in a base control chip instead?

We all know how much of a challenge droids have been for the Devs, but they've managed to make [almost] everything else work fairly well. I think it's time to give us some more attention, and maybe actually listen to our input for once.

I doubt you will be allowed to sell our freedom fighter exploding moues driods. They said they want combat droids only for droid engineers. I have to assume they consider an explosive droid combat oriented and will prevent anybody from DE from using them.

That is probably the biggest killer of this patch it adds some stuff but almost none if it will make for new sales.

/sigh

Please, go back and read the "plan". Nowhere does it say that *all* combat droids are supposed to be DE. If you read the plan, you'll see that it barely even mentions the possibility of having DE-only combat droids, and even what it did say about the matter wasn't clear.

/grumble something about people jumping the gun based on titles of posts and not READING or even paying attention at all

THEED, Naboo (INN) -- A lone MSE-6 "mouse" droid exploded near a popular outdoor cafe in the Naboo capitol Wednesday, killing three and wounding a dozen others. According to Imperial investigators on the scene, the droid had been extensively modified to serve as a terrorist weapon. Lieutenant Sal Bindo of the Imperial Security Bureau told INN reporters that although forensic analysis would continue, it looked as if the droid's chassis had been "carved out, removing anything that would make room for additional fiberplast explosive." Bindo, an acknowledged expert on droid-assisted terrorism, added, "the MSE-6 droid is designed to be highly inoffensive and deferential, to the point that it is often thought of as timid or cowardly. It would require a very highly trained droid engineer to blank this droid's natural personality and make it capable of doing something like this."

Although no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, investigators believe it to be the work of the Alliance to Restore the Galactic Republic, a small organization which has in the past claimed responsibility for such horrific acts as the destruction of the "Peace Star" prototype Imperial space station, killing up to a hundred thousand Imperial soldiers and noncommissioned support personnel.
