If you are a DE you should be a Master Artisan. Trying to do it otherwise is not worth the effort considering that nothing can be made in the DE line without master artisan components. There are more dependancies than useful droids. Just accept it, and get MA.

Thanks for this info Kiom! At least when I can finally get on (which it seems is not going to be tonight) I'll know which ones work and which ones don't, without having to test each and every model.

I figure it might also be the same, but have you been able to test the advanced models of the ones that arent working?

The probot, EG-6 and R3 were in my pad already (my personal droids). All are advanced models. I'm wondering if the customization lifespan is too low and the kit isn't resettingit. The 2-1B was a basic model I crafted tonight and then customized once tamed. The R2s (three of them) belonged to people I grabbed at the starport to "test" it. I don't know the age or model of those.

BRAVO! I have been an MA/MDE for a couple months now, and I have saved up about 3 million credits along the way. Several other MDEs I know have asked me, "how is it you have 3 million credits when I am always hovering somewhere around 200-300k?" The answer is: YOU ARE NOT A MASTER ARTISAN! You are wasting tons of cash on GP and memory modules, control units, and micro sensor suites. And not being able to make a droid on demand without components from someone else will hurt your productivity, even if you get your MA stuff for free. There are days when I actually make a better profit sellingMA components to DEs than I do selling droids.

It is only my opinion, but personally I think there are 2 types of DEs: 1.) those who take DE seriously, grind until their fingers fall off,and understand that it is NOTcombat profession, and 2.) those who are DE/pistoleer/CH/whatever-else wannabes with VERY short attention spans. I can certainly understand why DEs get burned out on the grind and want to mix it up in battle a little bit, but that is exactly why you can have more than one character. I have a second character on another server who is a commando in the making. He's nowhere near master yet, but so far I have been amazed at just how much easier it is to level up with this character than it was with my DE. Maybe easy isn't the right word... should I say, "fun?"

BTW I haven't been able to test the new customization tool yet, my server has been down all day. Hey SOE, do I get a discount for a day's worth of locked/offline/loading servers? NO?!?!? Can you say "class action suit?" Just curious...

Anyway, we can only hope that eventually the future fixes will make DE worthwhile. The grind to master DE is just mind-numbingly boring, ya know?

OodaTech , there is also a 3rd type ... someone who is able to play as both types and do just as well. I'm not an MA anymore, I gave it up to max out rifleman. However, I always have an available stock of GP mods, memory mods and control units in my backpack. I also make sure I have plenty of schematics and resources incase I run out too.

Fact is, if you are intelligent enough and resourceful enough, you don't need MA at all.

I notice that you can color BOTH the trim and the frame with one charge. Select TRIM, then select the color for the trim. Then click on the LEFT SIDE AREA. Nothing will appear to happen, but you've just set the frame color. Then click on the next color for the trim, and then click OK. That color that you clicked on the LEFT SIDE AREA should be the frame color. Unfortunately, the customer can't see it before it's done.

I don't get this?

Is this a replacement for the Droid Repair tool, or is it part of the Droid Customization tree?

BTW - MAs and DEs are to me the same, both craft useless items (nemodian bird cage, Droid Repair Kit) and never get the time of day from the Devs....

You know what it REALLY is?

It's a bunch of cans of spray paint, and some masking tape.

Apparently, it's really LOUSY spray paint, too, because it comes off the droid at the drop of a hat.
