Thread: Droid Bombs!!!

Alright, think about this for a second guys -- who's gonna use a droid that costs 5,000 cr a pop to take out lairs? The only real use for this would be in PVP, in which case it goes both ways, would be fairly easy to counter (to make things a little more interesting, I suppose DE's could be given the option of armoring it to make it a little tougher to take out, but at significant additional expense), and only usable against someone who is overt. So how could it be griefing. As a droid, you'd still be limited to one out at a time, and 5 in your DP, so you wouldn't exactly be able to SPAM them.

Anyway, I saw one last night -- it's called a seeker droid. Those things should definitely have bombs in them

using the 500c figure I'd gladly use one of these instead of sitting there for 10 minutes afk while my guy shoots at an empty lair to complete a mission. maybe some day they'll fix lairs back but if not I'd buy this idea in bulk

Well if we are talking about an exploding power droid then those things aint cheap (most architects want 5k+ for the power unit alone)

I like this idea but I don't know how starwarsy this is...

I for one hope they don't use the existing models as bombs...get original...let's not turn MSE droids which are supposed to be storage movingdroids on starships in to bombs.

Anything to give us DEs some kind of consumable product is great in my eyes though...the only thing we have currently is BH droids and the market for those is so slim.

No to exploding MSE Droids, I think a better Idea would adding the LIN Demolitionmech to the list of Droids we can make. For those of you who don't have the Essential Guide to Droids it was seen in new hope during the part where the Jawa's were at the Lars Homestead, its the Black Domed one moveing on tank treads.

If its going to be implemented, there need to be controls on it. The devs should make it so that the droid cannot be issued the attack command on any item more than 40m away. Something like that. Besides, if I remember correctly (Its been a while since I made a MSE Droid), they don't include a Droid Sensor package in their construction. So how far in the distance can they "sense"!!

These droids should cost TONS... This all fits into my major problem with the artisan side of SWG. Stop making things cheap! Vehicles should require 30k resources, and have a much slower decay rate then they currently do. Give people something to aspire to!! At this point in the game when so many people have mastered multiple proffesions, you need to give people a goal, other than holos.

Lets think realistically. If you wanted to get a black market MSE droid with enough explosives to do some serious damage, would it really cost the same as a plate of Travel Biscuits!!! Come on Devs! For something that could be powerful, the resource requirements should be high, and the complixity should be even higher. Therefore the cost should be high. Dont make the requirements so low that we have to sell them for 600cr. Can you imagine all the MSE's you would see running around?

Gawd, the noise alone.... hehe

Now would have been a great time for me to be able to dig up the link to that starwars page where I read about Luke and Lando discussing using MSE droids as assassin droids, because people 'don't notice them' They were also going to give them an explosive charge and set them after imperial officers.

And with that I thought the exploding MSE would make a great Faction Droid. Give them over to Rebels for the purposes suggested above. Any free damage that one person gets in PvP against another is well worth it, and I'm betting that for the first month or so the imperials won't even see the droids coming, as we all generally just try to ignore them.

That would also fit in with your 'starwarsyness feel' (oh, how I hate arguing about 'feel') as it would be the Rebels, with far less resources than the imperials, using whatever tools and advantages they have against the much larger empire.

It's the MSE mouse droid OF ULTIMATE DOOOOOOM the empire will cower in fear at the hands of the mighty MSE mouse droid... OF DOOM. On a more serious note it seems like a good idea and should take about less or equal to the reguler MSE because of prgramming and such don't cha think you won't need to program a droid that blows up how to be friends?

Sometimes when I'm bored, I'll craft a MSE with no modules and sic em on rebels who are raiding theed. Give em names like KickMe and laugh at em......better than therapy in my book

The concept of blowing them up I like, made over 1,000 of them in my grinding, and the devs nerfed being able to release them just afterI started. Payback would be fun, but the Idea that they were presented to us as the Devs first idea as a combat droid is taking the joke too far. Oh and it would take a crate of these to take out a lair, CL12 grenades, anyone with marksman can use them, only do upto max 900+ max damage, and most lairs I've taken down lately have had at least 18K HAMs

1) I hate MSE droids. With a passion. The darkest days of DE is grinding 300 of the bastards to get to BP1.

2) It just seems stupid. For one thing, how much damage can they possibly do? Either its trivial and wont be used, or its useful and it will be nerfed.

3) The only good thing about it would be if they added animation for them blowing to all hell. Then ill consider it.

This is off topic but it makes me wonder about the combat droids we're getting. If we're going to get new droids thats are useful, then why wont they increase the power of the probot to useful levels? I just keep fearing the new combat droids will be less powerful then the probot. I mean, do you think an R2 should do more damage than a probot? /hijack
