Thread: ALL I WANT IS ONE COMBAT DROID

Why is wanting a droid dekar thinking of ourselves and not other people? Dont forget we all pay the same price and we dont all want to sit around all day crafting useless droids. Giving DE 2-3 combat droids is not giving them free combat ability at all. We make these things dude, they are like people basically. And Jenden (oh mighty and great Jenden /sarcasm ended now) have u ever seen travel biscuits rolling around firing laser cannons? Well i haven't. I ahve however seen droids rolling around with laser cannons. And i do believe we should have the ability to craft and use them. DE requires more xp than any of the other crafting proffessions. We make far more advanced things, and i dont see why having some cool combat droid (doesnt even have to be too strong) is such a bad thing. **edit** ppl, what is wrong with u.

For goodness sakes people, one-starring is for poorly written, incomprehensible, troll and otherwise inappropriate posts. Not for mere disagreements. Express yourselves in your posts and not the anonymous cowardice of one-star banditry.

Jenden, I can see where your concern for balance is. The Devs giveth and the Devs can surely taketh away. My argument to the balance issue is that a level 15 and a level 20 combat droid or even 2 level 15 combat droids is not unbalancing and will go a long way to making up for the way we've been treated since launch. We've spent the points, the profession is thin ( and thinning ), we need an extra perk, even if it's something we can't sell to the public.

I know, and thats where its just a simple matter of difference of opinion. If you'd rather have some combat capability instead of more utility, thats one option, if you'd rather have more utility and no combat, thats the other. Both are valid choices, you just have to go with the majority.

Ive been watching this issue for awhile. Balance, that seems to be the question. Giving a few droids with combat capabilites only makes sense. No one would flock to this profession if this profession alone gained the ability for lets say L25 droids, its just not worth the skills points. And now since they are scrapping the idea what are we left with ? Well you got it guys utility droids that no one will buy. They suck, they are useless. If someone wants tocraft stuff, they do it at their house with their +43 crafting device and then do production run. Medical droids ? Useful butnothing a ranger cant provide.

Im kinda mad because I was looking forward to some changes and realism to this profession. Combat droids make sense. In the star wars universe there are lots of diffrent kind of droids that do lots of diffrent things, and yes gentlemen and ladies combat is one of them.

We have alot ofus DE screaming that it wouldn't be balanced right, but at the same time your are all taking away from the gamesome excitement. Its really sad a few players griping over and over shot it down for therest of us. If any devs wereby chance reading, be aware that there were some of us that would of looked foward to a DC profession. IT would of been fun to get some business again andto create something a little more exciting. For the rest of you that want to flame, go ahead and do it, it still doesn't change the fact that there are combatdroids in the star wars universe in which George Lucas created.

Guess its time to change professions, not that anyone cares ne how.

Yea, I didn't really have any problems with the DC idea myself, and honestly I think it is (if they add combat droids) the way to go. The only suggestion I have a huge problem with is turning DE into a hybrid profession.

I can understand that point of view. It's nice to see that at least a few people areable to express the desire for combat droids while simultaneously displaying that they understand the balance-related consequences.

Personally, I would rather have all of our changes be crafting related. I understand that Droid Engineer isn't a very combat capable profession, but as I see it that is intentional and helps make the profession more interesting. If they give us a combat advantage (such as the ability to use combat droids more powerful than CL 10) they would have to cut some of our crafting capabilities to keep the profession balanced overall.

Combat capabilities can be made up by picking up a combat profession. If you want pets specifically, then pick up some Creature Handler. The reverse is not so simple, though... how do you make up for the lost crafting abilities? No other profession can craft items with as much potential diversity as droids. We are essentially the only profession that is both combat support AND crafting support. If you give Droid Engineers some combat capability and in doing so remove some crafting ability, there is no way for the "crafter" Droid Engineers to make up for the lost capabilities.

Kolos that is rubbish dude. Giving us 2/3 combat droids (maybe improve probot as one) at master DE maybe would not destroy ANY of our crafting abilities. I mean W T H do we get at MDE???????? Sweet bugger all dude. Unless you think the big pancake flipping waste of metal is useless. Droid Dekar at MDE would do nothing to unbalance the game in any way, no one would flock to it no problem at all. Just something cool that we deserve as MDE.

*EDIT*

Some things to add:

Unlike other crafting proffessions we make a totally different kind of item here. We dont make food, buildings or armour, we make droids. DE has the position to be a hybrid class, as it should be. I have played countless games where DE relies on droids for everything they do.

If not hybrid then what is so bad with giving a Droid Dekar at MDE? I don't see what is so wrong with that. It is not for free at all. Wow i have a BLL how cool. Not. F F S. I really feel sorry for the DE profession, and i'll be happy to go. Never seen such a bunch of people in my life - and i dont understand how you can not realise why DE hasnt been changed for so long - take a look around its pretty **edit** obvious.

As I've said countless times, its a choice. DE's get combat and less crafting, or more crafting. You can want whichever one you want, but the majority has spoken in favor of more crafting. Neither choice is wrong or right (as long as you understand the implications of either choice). You can argue your position, but don't argue it as not being detramental to anyone.
