Anakin was also a really good pilot. Does that mean DEs should be good pilots? Anakin was also a slave who cleaned a junk shop. I don't particularly want that attached to my profession. For that matter, perhaps DEs should automatically be force sensitive, if we're using Anakin as the template.

The fact that we're more suited than any other current elite profession does not make us the right profession, because NO current elite profession is really suited to making vehicles.

Furthermore, I strongly object to the notion of giving DEs vehicles as a sort of booby prize to compensate us for the problems with droids. I don't want to walk away with the Droid Engineer Home Game. I want the Grand Prize. I want droids fixed.

As a Master Artisan (like most DEs) I will be able to make the first round of vehicles, just not exclusively. That seems fair enough to me. If they decide not to add an elite Vehicle Engineer profession later on, then I suppose we might wind up making more advanced vehicles, but I strongly suspect that adding that new profession will wind up being the right thing to do. By putting starter vehicles in Engineering, they haven't burned any bridges in either direction.

Alright, I want to know why so many of you have whined and complained "DEs SHOULDN'T GET VEHICLES!" We knew that they were going to go to either engineer, master artisan, or Droid Engineer anyway, so no matter what it would be us that got them. Not saying that they ever were going to go to DE directly, but it does kinda make one cringe to know that no matter what we could have built the vehicles, but that we have now created a huge rift between our own ranks because some people didn't like the dreams of others. A sense of perspective, please.

Please, all of you, stop saying "DE's shouldn't blah blah blah..." All I want to hear is a can-do attitude, and no more of this can't-do dogma. All it's doing is creating unnecessary divisions among us because we don't have full control on what will happen, therefore we take it out on each other's dreams and ideas as that is something that we can control (much as dictators control serfs. Brutalize and dominate over). This has nothing to do with vehicles and everything to do with common decency.

Alright. That should be enough ranting for one evening. Now to get back to work on the internal Droid Parts price chart I'm building for Ahazi.

How can you make it more like star wars? Well in episode I Anakin was a builder of droids and made a pod racer. So why can't we be the class getting to build vehicles.

Maybe have something like a storage droid that can be built into future vehicles..maybe one that can serve like an auto-repair module that needs batteries to keep working right..or then the vehicle proceeds to take damage...I dunno...

In any event, at the most, DE's should only be able to somewhat support optional components..not to actually build the vehicle itself in the DE line.

this is typical for the devs, put it into a basic profession? hello?

so every wannabe dirtdigger is making advanced machines within 1 day of playtime?

funny and we have to get so much exp to build almost useless bucketheads /sigh

why gamelife is same unfair and senseless like real life

With the line of thinking that leads to the conclusion that vehicles belong in artisan, so does furniture. It has nothing to do with architecture. Yes, I'm bitter that we don't make a single part for vehicles. We need the help/support from the dev's, engineer is not a troubled/neglected profession. Master artisan parts are needed for almost every droid (at least any that do anything, as bleak as that anything may be). That includes the engineer line.

DE could be changed into an advanced profession called Engineer quite easily, get rid of the word Droid from most of our current components and you'd have components that could be applied to any vehicle & droidschematic. Sensor, Motive System, Advanced Frame Unit, Armour, change Droid Brain into CPU (and Advanced Droid Brain into Advanced CPU) etc, etc. The only "danger" would be that it may be to much on one profession.

I find it ridiculous that just to train a creature to be a mount you require an advanced profession (AND highup the profession too), yet vehicles are being made by a basic profession, with not even a component from an advanced profession or even Master Artisan. I relise that these are just the first vehilces, but so are the current mounts the first mounts, and I dont see anything changing there anytime soon...

IMHO artisan is the right place for assembly of basic vehicals. That being said weapons modules should be available by weapons smiths. Armor or shields by armor smiths. Power cores by architects. Which leaves DE with autopilot droid brains, repair, and repower through power droids.

This brings to mind assembly. Factories should require a droidmodule or perhaps droid workers.

Uhh.. How are they "screwing" DE on vehicles? What does a Droid Engineer have to do with building vehicles?? While I agree your class is broken right now, building vehicles is not what your class should be about. What they need to do is give you droids that can carry stuff for people, that can collect from harvesters for people, and that can actually fight well in combat. They need to get rid of large combat-oriented creatures.. And they need to allow you guys to build combat droids instead.
