What does it say about the game that I stopped playing my Master DE several months ago but continue to pay and keep my account active just so I can read the message boards?

Oh I've already decided that. I'm just holding on in this game because I have a few RL friends who are enjoying their un-broken professions. I'm signed up for WoW, so if/when I get accepted into that, I will leave SWG for good. Otherwise, I'm planning to hang on for another month, perhaps.

Oh heck no. If SOE thinks I am going to go through this crap with them again then they have another thing coming. I loved EQ. I played it for 18months and the while I play this game I look back and remember nothing but good times in EQ.

That being said, I know that SOE is going to do the same thing to EQ2 that they are doing here. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

oh, i'm sorry, they charged for the "manufacturing costs" (shipping +disk production)not for the beta. of course WOW is letting you download it also...something SOE flat out refused to do...

I just keep reading how droids would overpower this and droids would stack modifiers on that. Has anyone actually asked the devs what their vision of droids was?

I believe that's at the heart of the porblem, isn't it? I believe they collected all the established coding for EQ, with all it's low-tech creature lairs and such, polished it up and put a Star Wars face on it, thinking they could 'add in' newer features later once they ever turned their attantion to it. Now we hear TH and Q whining about how hard it is because droids "touch so many other systems".

Heh, maybe you should have had a vision fro droids from the beginning...

Well, IMHO this is the problem with SWG: maybe they had no vision beforehand...or the vision that they had was a wrong vision...

Let's see, 2 professions were abandoned at Beta (Farmer and Miner - yes, I saw some players at the artisan forum asking for a Miner profession at the last month), some professions were created with skills trees that make nothing, balance problems when trying conciliate PvP and PvE, lack of content...and this game was launched when it wasn't ready, then some features was completed and we need 6 play months to have all the features completed (mounts, cities and vehicles).

Then you have the bugs, well, you need human work to fix these bugs, but the work force was diverted to things as the features that the game promised have at the beggining (mounts, cities and vehicles) and to create content that the game hadn't.

Well, there's a MMORPG vision that says that the players need create the content. Following this vision we had the SWG problems and now we have devs diverted from the bug fix working to create new content that this game needed at the start. Or working at the next expansion...

Now, I am waiting for EQ2. Why? A diferent dev team, they know what they are making (there's the EQLive experience beforehand and they know what work and what don't work), and , mostly, they have a diferent vision: the content need be disponible at the beggining, the players don't create the content, the players interact with the content but the devs need create the content to tell a story that the players will participate. I played EQLive before I started to play SWG and I am reading the EQ2 discussion forums. IMHO, EQ2 will have:

1 - a lore, a story that is made by the game content and the players don't need to "create" the content, there's content that build the game world;

2 - maybe a better aproach to crafting (if the "minigames" and "the crafting like combat" work, the crafting will be fun and not the click and combine we have);

3 -a diferent approach to player economy, the game will have loot itens and NPCs that buy itens from crafters, basically the player economy will not be totally free, there's some "governamental regulation" at the game because the devs can change the loot tables if some itens have an exorbitant price or make the NPCs buy more crafted itens if these itens are selled bellow the production coust - aham...personal harversters...ahammmm....grinding made....ahammm (yes, my experience with SWG is saying to me that a TOTALLY free market don't works and that you need a minimal "regulamentation" - okay, all the neo-con economists will flame me now...but when I started to play SWG I believed the the SWG player economy system was better but now I don't believe it)

4 - well, it is easier give the tank, healer, nuker and damage dealer roles to professions ata fantasy game than a sci-fi game;

5 - the game is made mostlyto PvE (only a few servers will be PvP), then the PvP - PvE balance don't is an issue;

6 - the game is oriented to make the adventurer classes to group together (the best groups will need a fighter, a scout, a mage and a priest archetypes...);

7 - the classes are classes and there's no skill system (then, no skill tree where we have nothing usefull to the player or the game);

8 - EQ2 launch was changed to 2004 (it was 2003), they don't want to launch an incomplete game;

9 - the archetype system at the class system give a lot of attention to the balance, then post-balancing ("nerfing") don't will be a serious issue;

10- If the game is launched completed and balanced, the devs will give all the attention to bug fixes at the first months;

11- Moorgard (the Community Relations Manager for EverQuest II) appear understand what he is speaking (ummmm....no R2 with clear domes here - this is a serious issue, if he don't understand what he is speaking, then he too don't understand what the communityis speaking - and the information that is transmited to the devs from the community can be a wrong information...).

When you are saying that you don't will try EQ2 because it is a SOE game, you are only limiting yourselves. I really don't believe that WoW will be the uber game that everyone is talking. Okay, Blizzard never made a bad game, but ever there's the first time and this is the first time that they are making a MMORPG. I don't believe that first timers make all right the first time...

I saw a lot of people running to Final Fantasy...well, everyone was saying that FF was the better game ever...then some players returned from Final Fantasy saying that the game wasn't so good...

Well, SOE can create good MMORPG, they made EQLive before. If you don't want give more money to SOE, okay, but my advice is don't buy ONE YEAR subscrition of WoW...

This game has nothing left to interest me..... The new changes were the only thing that was keeping me here, and they aren't going to happen so that is that I guess.
