I can confirm this. I colored an older BLL yesterday, and it stuck, but the 'Customization Lifespan' (sp?) dropped each time the customer took the BLL out of his datapad.

I made, and then colored an R3 this morning, and you have to store it and recall it several times before the colors will stick, and there's no indication that the 'customization lifespan' is in effect.

I'm not a DE, but I am a customer. I don't believe in buying pets. They defecate at random, and they're constantly wanting you to play with them or feed them. Droids, on the other hand, can do all the mechanical stuff that I need doing, work (mostly) on MY schedule, and only require power every so often, which I can supply myself, as I can craft batteries fairly easily(though, they should give you guys the ability to make some sort of better power device that'd last longer). So, as far as I'm concerned, droids are the way to go (especially when the space expansion comes out -- then I'll need a few to keep my business running and keep my ship repaired).

Now then. To me, it sounds like this whole mess is /bugged to hell and gone. I tried a few things out last night, just to check on stuff. Here's what I found.

1.) Non DEs cannot customize droids with the customization kit (that's good news for you guys).

2.) My pre-made R2 unit did NOT hold customization, but has also given me no messages about customization fading. I DID notice that it got to "low power" status for the first time last night, although that may be due to the fact that I had it out for about 15 minutes and it was attacked by a critter at one point.

3.) My R2 unit looked GREAT when it had proper colors, as opposed to "bondo and primer." I think it sucks that pre-made ones don't work, post-made ones do work, but customization seems to not fade on all droids equally. I intend to /bug this issue when I log on, because I think it really needs addressing. Why give you guys the ability to customize when it doesn't work properly?

As for the "Oh well, I'll just sell more droids" attitude, that may work for the piecemeal seller who doesn't have a lot of warehoused stock, but for people with a number of droids waiting to sell, this problem is pretty serious.

My view is that customization should work for all droids properly, and that it should only fade when you've brough the thing out, like, 15 times or something. The notion that it fades after being brought out, like, 5 times is just goofy. That will cause you guys to have to REALLY lower your prices on the customization kits, which, from what I understand, are pretty expensive to make as it is. Or at least are time consuming to make.
