Beinga DE sucks.Costs lotsof money, probably the most expensive of the crafters in material and xp required, and you end up with a very tiny market to sell to. All your time is spent running harvestors, grinding xp, or begging for sales in lag entrenched cities.

Unless you really love the concept of making droids, and you really have faith that SOME DAY it will be fixed, drop it and become something else.

A shorter answer - as things now stand NO it's not worth it.

Barely make a living, contribute bu**er all to your PA, and your broke compared to others who went Armour/Weap or Architect at the same time you started.

Plus...it's not FUN to be pitied by everyone else.

So UNLESS you love em, leave em alone.

Err, I guess you haven't read the Droid Eng board yet. No, it isn't worth it unless you like being a pissed off individual. Save yourself pain and pissedoffedness for a while and try a real class first then come back and try out DE if you like pain or maybe they will actually have us fixed by then!!! (LOL).

One word: Er, two words: HELL NO!!!! I am a master DE myself. SOE has done nothing for us since release. This profession has been promised so many "good" things, but they've all reverted those good things to other professions, like CH's. If you like being promised stuff you'll NEVER get, join the DE team. Really, by now, I bet we're just a small band of people anyways that won't ever have any effect on the development team. Most people have quit the profession and left to go on to bigger and better things that keep improving. Sales of creatures more than quadruple the sales of droids. Save yourself the grief and surrender those DE skills today!

RazorFire - I think being a DE is worth it, but I may have a unique perspective from most here. First and foremost, you really have to enjoy the concept of building droids.

Personally, I really like building droids and running a business. Sort of a microcosm of doing it in a virtual economy. I also don't get tired of teaching people how to use their new droids, or even of explaining about all the droid bugs. But that's probably just me.

Some insights, from one DE's perspective.

DE 0002 is the new home for FS crafters. Best time/xp ratio for massive xp grinding.

Is it worth it? Well...

i think DE is awesome.. and with JTL arond the corner i couldn't be more psyched about it...

i really can't say i like the creatures in this game much not some of the prettiest things eh? but a small MSE droid sittin there beepin and clickin... i never get tired of it

The only good thing about DE's sucking so badly is that when you see someone who is a Master DE, or a Droid Engineer of any kind really... you know that they are a player who is serious about the game, and not all "im teh r0xx0r" and crap.

In my opinion, it is a very fun profession, and you can build a lot of interesting droids... but if you're getting into the professionfor money and fame... don't do it. The money here isn't that good at all.

i have to disagree... i there are some famous DE's on shadowfire that u willknow their names as soon as u shout *looking for a droid* and i've made 14k selling two MSE droids at novice lvl

here is the thing about droids... they have absolutly no decay rate... once you have bought one you don't have to again.... THATS WHAT THE DEVS NEED O FIX we are standing still in an economy and thats never good. on the other hand on my server.. practicaly EVERY1has a droid-filled data pad... they are VERY popular. it's unreal they are more popular then pets, and sell for far higher.. finding an awesome droid for 35k-45k on my server is usual.

again it's great here.. but plaz FIX THE DECAY RATE
