I have 4 toons DE is the one i play the most next to my BH it is fun for the crafting but good in the fact you donot have to craft all the time to keep vendors stocked. I make enough to support my buildings and small purchases. but to get rich you will not do but it is a great profession and one were the market is open. I would not give my DE up save my BH.

My only character is a DE/SW/musician. I make plenty on DE to support him (when you don't have to worry about buying weapons/armor/food/buffs etc you don't need large funds). I don't really have any urge to get into combat, and as it is find I wish I had more time to split between the cantina and my shop as it is.

I think that you just have to play around with the system for a while until you find out what you enjoy. Different people like different things.

I'm planning on Master DE, SW, and Merchant.

I find flying in space is combat enough for me when I want a change of pace.

I've only been at this for a little over a month but I love MDE. Not getting rich but that isn't why I got into it; if you love droids (and lots of research and work) you'll love Droid Engineering. But I am making more than enough to support myself.

Also Master Artisan and working on Creature Handling (love those pets)and space combat when I want a break.

From my little experience, I agree combat is really repetitive. But then again, combat never really was my thing; I prefer thinking games.

Good luck to ya,

Jetpacks crafted = 0 | Mando crafted = 0
And darn proud of it! I'm a Droid Engineer not a Jetpack Monkey.

I had a Droid Engineer toon, my only toon, for the longest time, basically for the first 18 months I played the game. My professions were Master DE, Master Artisan, Master Tailor and some merchant to actually sell my goods. I had a really fun time and never really lusted for combat. Crafting kept me busy enough and over time I could accumulate lots of money I can now spend.

So if you like crafting then one toon with only DE can keep you happy for a long time.

I have a Master Droid Engineer, Master Weaponsmith, Master Artisan, 4-4-0-3 Merchant. It's my only character on the server. But I did start up a combat character on another server to play around with. I also have some RL friends that help me out in the game alot.

I have a single character. I've never played anything BUT Droid Engineer. I have Master DE, Master Merchant, and Master Artisan. The little skill points I have left have always gone into Carbine. (this makes me a Level 10! rofl!) (I am an Ace Pilot, though)

To answer your questions...

I DO enjoy playing SWG without all the combat or PvP. I craft droids, decorate, explore, fly space missions,do missions for loot, and have fun, etc. My guildmates and friendshave always been great help in completing missions when needed.

I DO make more than enough credits playing a DE, and I DO NOT make the mass-produced/limited-lifespan droids by the cratefuleither (no Seekers, etc) I do mostly CUSTOM droid work, always have, and I have waaaay too many credits and NOTHING in this game to spend them on. That's my only complaint.

I went into SWG specifically to play a DE, and have no regrets! Over the course of the game we have gotten much LUV from the DEVs and I expect to continue to see more in the future, as Droids ARE Star Wars... And Droid are my life.
