Certain devs have already been posting things like "show me where I made any promises", because they know they would be in trouble if they did. I see a future in politics for many at SOE.

And for you too, apparently. To be fair, the dev who posted that was Vass, who has not made promises about game features, and whose job does not involve making decisions about what gets fixed or actually performing the fixes. He was included in a list of people who had made and broken promises, and quite rightly asked what promises the poster was referring to in his case.

I'm upset too at the prospect of another two months without significant adjustments to droid engineering, but we've got enough honest criticisms that, in my opinion, we should avoid reaching for weaker criticisms like this one. It may seem like it improves our case, but it actually does just the opposite, because it makes us seem like we argue in bad faith.

Our case is good enough when we display scrupulous rhetorical honesty, so we probably should.

If I had meant to single out Vass, I would have. Pointing to that quote, however, was fair game, because it reflects the defensive culture of SOE, and their fundamental inability to articulate any meaniful information to the DE player base on the future of our profession.

Imyself cannot point to an instance where we have been told a specific thing would happen by a specific time, so I would not have called anyone promise-breakers. My politician analogy speaks to the fact that we are purposely never spoken to candidly because there is such a paranoia about overpromising.

Paying customers get just enough teaser info to keep paying their monthly fees, with thehope that their main issue will be soon resolved. Three months later, that has not happened. Combat professions (including CH) are nearly SOE's sole focus, while a half-dozen crafting classes continue to have game-breaking issues. The frustration lies in seeing update after update contain countless balance and combat fixes as the artisan community is left to resign themselves to a feeble "maybe next patch..."

The reason why DE is overlooked and ignored is simple, although most likely difficult for droid engineers to accept. Droid engineering is not critical to this game; it has a mild auxiliary benefit at best.

Any droid engineer worth his motive system should respond to this with, "but...droids are integral to Star Wars! How can droids not be important!" The answer is that, yes, droids are a huge part of the Star Wars mythos, but SWG is not Star Wars! SWG is a game themed with Star Wars as determined by the game's creators (made possible through alicense agreement). When this game (like any) was developed, a set of priorities were created, and those priorities are what drove the game to launch and what continue to drive the ongoing patches and fixes.

What the specific priorities are can be debated by those of us on the outside. My guess on the top priorites are, in order, pets, combat, missions, GCW.

I believe that the DE profession will eventually be fixed, at least to the point where all existing components work as advertised (unfortunately that could mean BLL's will still do nothing). Super human patience will most likely be required.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. All I want is communication. I want to know what they're thinking. I want to be able to tell them what I think, and then hear from them their opinions on those issues. Then, I want both of us to toss out ideas on how to fix them. Back and forth. That's how communication works.

That's why the Correspondant Program was made. That's why the private Forums were made. Yet still, all we hear are vague thoughts saying "Sure, you should be fixed," and then they ask us to give them the ideas that we've been giving them for months now.

Well this is about par for the coarse. And is pretty much what i expected. My main plan when starting my DE was to get master artisan master de and master tka with last bit for novice medic. I know Im sure there is better layouts but it was what I wanted. Do to the lack of desire to fix DE I made the decision to drop master artisan strip my master tka status down and go CH not master mind you but enough to get a decent pet and with whats left tank a little with my TKA.This while keeping my master stats in DE.Its not what I wanted to do but seems im being forced down this path. I cant make a decent liveing off the droids I make and i cant tank as good as a CH pet with my TKA.So if you cant beat them join them I guess. So as of now I closed my shop up stored all my droids removed the title from my name and am trying to enjoy what little i can with my watered down skills all in the hopes that someday they may fix us though at the moment that seems to be getting harder and harder to believe in as well.

Well..I am actually happy in a sick sorta way...

I have at least 6 skill boxes ready to be trained in Range/Rifleman that I have been hanging on too until this patch came out. I need to drop DE to get them. I have factory runs on everthing, all the droids I wanted forme and my PA are finished and I have a bzillion crates of parts, complete modules and driods made.

So...goodby cruel world of the DE...I might craft again someday with ships and all...maybe not

I wish you all the best and hope you get the profession it should have been soon.

BTW..If your on Corbantis and need a good escort on a nasty planet to dig up a good resource..look me up

I think that SOE and The Devs have made a pretty loud statement in regards to Droid Engineering with their latest update for the TC.

That statement is....

FU Droid Engineers. You'll get jack poop and like it.
