Right, more info. Here’s some replies:

Malitevv said "Faction pets are useless in PvP. The most elite combatants are always going to be able to own the best pet in the game (lest the game become pet-wars), and most PvPers are elite combatants. They'd be more useful in PvE, but you have to be overt to use them. But you have to be an elite combat player to be able to risk going overt. If a non-elite combatant goes overt for any period of time some elite combat PvPer is going to notice you and take you and your pet out."

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch…

Babyblue said "again you, would HAVE to be overt to use any droid over CL10 unless you found a way to balance them aginst CL-10 pets (as thay are basicly nutral faction pets) if this issue was over come i think you might have a better shot."

And

Kzinkiller said "Rich generals should thoroughly own poor buck privates. They should have an armed escort and tough droids and a fierce mount and be something for new players to aspire to."

Well you’re all on the same page, just different paragraphs. The answer is simple: Non-factioned droids are indeed still lvl10’s, Babyblue being right that this is precisely the balance issue that’s been such a pain. Kzinkiller’s comments then match those of Malitevv, let v.high level GCWers have super powerful units at their command, make being a colonel worthwhile by tying types and/or number of droids to rank and instantly you have:

a) People wanting to participate in the GCW

b) High level Droids & pets available to high ranking officers making them far superior in battle to the rank and file.

High level combat droids would reinvigorate the GCW, make ranks worthwhile and be the first major differentiation between newbies and vets.

Tada!
