I dunno. Seems like this guy clearly knows what he wants and what he's getting into. If he wants a DE to sell him modules or make him a droid of a certain type, who is the DE to scoff at what the customer wants? He's obviously researched it a bit, and I don't think calling his idea silly is very nice at all.

I think this was answered earlier but no, experimentation doesn't affect the number of modules you can put in the droid, so if you have a supplier for the modules then you can put them in whatever chassis you like, provided you have the skill to make that chassis.

You should be aware that some chassis take combat capable socket clusters, which I believe you get at 0300, so be aware if you decide you want a different chassis type whether it takes just the modules or if you are required to put them in a CCSC first. If you are, then you might be able to convince a DE to make the modules for you, provided you don't mind paying the extra cost of the droid brains along with the extra resources for the modules.
