I make money as a DE, a decent amount in fact. I don't think ANYBODY has said that you can't make money as a DE. All they are saying is that for "the amount of work," you don't get as much as if you had done another profession.
DE is work, being a money making DE is a ton of work.
I spend 40+ hours a week with Droids and resources, using 5 accounts. If I put that effort into Armor, Ships, or Weapons,I would have probably 4 times as much money as I do.
Learn your droids, make them well, price them fairly, and advertise and you will be ok.

Probably the fastest way to make money as a DE is to sell all your resources in a forum auction. You said fastest...

There are quite a few ways to make easy money in this game. Perhaps you should start with resources.

Well I'm not a DE but I stumbled upon this thread and thought I'd throw in my 2 credits as a consumer of droids.
Well to put it short and sweet, Im a bounty hunter and burn through droids. And im not talking about the seeking type, Im talking about bomb droids.
Think about it. You are creating a product that cannot be healed and provide a clean and efficient manner for us scum of the galaxy to do our jobs. Once they're used well obviously we need to buy more...unlike a harvester droid or a ent model.
They usually sell around 40-80k on my server for the 56 det power and hell I gladly pay that much and more. The DE I deal with can't even keep his in stock and has a waiting list for god's sake
So looking at it from a business side of things to market a perishable product, providing you get some exposure and people know you consistantly carry them, I would imagine you could have a tidy business on your hands.
Anyhow, that's the way I see it from the consumer side of things. I see the demand, I see the great results, and I'm left with more credits to spend that give me more credits over the top, fame (or infamous if you will), and keeps the pesky jedi population watching their backs

This is true, I sold some 57 power bomb droids in an auction and I have about 6 or 7 BH's waiting for me to get more supplies in so I can make more. Even at 100K each these are impossible to keep in stock. If you have the time and resources you can be a BH's best friend by making and selling these in crates.

The major problem, Cuore, is that on our galaaxy (Sunrunner), it has been almost 4 months since a mediocre spawn (918 OQ) of Tolium Gas has spawned. The next closest spawn of decent gas (916 OQ was 11 months ago). Our best spawn was well over a year ago (977 OQ)... well before we knew that we needed the stuff.
It is really difficult to make these droids for our customers because the good stuff is just not out there. Well, here's to getting the good stuff soon!!! (Man that had some drug overtones)

Man, I should probably increase my bomb droid prices ... Det Rated 54's is currently what I'm selling (Best available with resources spawned in last 6 months). Got mine at 52.5K for a single R3 and 250K for a crate of 5. Currently selling about 10+ crates a week.
I knew my prices were a little lower than general but I didn't think THAT much lower. Right now though I think I'm the only big/decent supplier of bomb droids on the server so I could probably get away with charging 80K a piece easily.

Yea I sell mine for 85k each as well. BH's can make 200k+ from a successful mission, and those droids help a lot. Plus they are fun to use.
