My guess is that the hermit droid engineer was a member of the IG88 design team who escaped death and has been hiding in that cave building droids to protect himself, or grinding for XP,ever since. He could have been checking on his harvesters when IG88 developed a mind ofits own. Thoughthat's just one possibility.

I've actually seen 2, red con, aggressive IG88's in the last 3 days between Theed and Keren. Had the privilege of seeing a large group of Gungans that spawnedtry to take it down and get ripped apart as well as a group of player Imperials. Those assassin droid's are real pieces of work. Wouldn't let anyone but a master have a chance at making one.
