Way back before SWG was released i decided making droids would be 'cool'. Two weeks after chimeara went live i was MDE and have been so since. Selling on something i have taken time over and seeing it put to use is the best part of this game for me

I'll be honest and say way back in September, as a MA I looked at each of the crafting professions and said, "Ok, Weaponsmith: too much hassle; Armorsmith: ugh, hide requirement. ; Architect: (looked at people selling small houses on the street) decided the market was flooded. Chef: saw little demand. Tailor: HA!

....well this is what was left. I met some great people and was recruited into my first guild as the guild droid engineer and has been that way ever since.

I wasn't planning to play SWG until I found out you could build droids.

R2-D2 has been my hero since 1977. It's odd how many customers had me paint their droids white and blue after I sold them to them.

Why you ask, well there are many reasons. Of course i love droids, and it is droids (and jedi i reckon) that make the SWU what it is.

But that is the simple answer. There was my need for mechanical engineering and since nuthin else allows for that feeling (i dont consider the easy of building speeders true to the engineering assumed therein). Also my guild didnt have one. Also i had heard rumors that DE would have a good role in the SE construction of starships.

But the overriding reason is that i like all DE i believe, am a Masochist.

Hologrind. Profession 25. Merchant is 26. Liked it so much I decided to stick with it and wait for patch 9/10 for my jedi.

For the first few months (maybe up through end of October) I waffled around on what I wanted to do. I wanted to do some crafting, as in my other MMO experiences, I had not gone down that route at all. Initially Dhav was a Master Artisan with a sizeable chunk of Rifle, and enough CH for sand beetles and dewbacks.

I had an urge to be an architect, or a weaponsmith. Seeing what two of my colleagues went through in each profession, I shied away from them. I started creating an alt who I was going to make into a Doc/CM character, until I realized that I never played a cleric either, and I didn't have the mentality for it

Droids just have a neatness factor to them: even when the profession was skimming for shineys on the bottom. While I need to get my stuff together as it comes to business practice and management of inventory and resources, I enjoy making droids now, and enjoy the niche that it is. This past publish has helped quite a bit for my own concerns, as well as bolstering what we can make that people want. There's still some work to be done, but we're far better off now than we were three months ago, and there's still quite a bit of potential as we come to and pass the SE landmark.

I did the DE thing because I have a fascination for droids/robots in RL anyway.

Ibecame a DE because i have a Alt in a guild our guild was lacking in master archtect and DE. So I started a second account and made one. I would have to admit i love the profession now that i am a master. There are downsides to it like all the coponets it takes to craft one but hey there droids not a peice of armor.
