Thread: 63 extra skill points for MDEs

I'm one of the cheapest DEs on the server. I don't undercut, but I don't overcharge. I had a race with friends: one master arch, one master tailor/master armorsmith, one master weaponsmith/arch. I have least amount of money. The tailor/as has about 2x what I have, and she started way after me on her master level. The master arch has about 3x what I have and the master ws/arch has about 5x of what I have.
Something is wrong.
Didn't mean to imply that DE's should/can easily have more cash than other crafting professions, as that widely depends on server I think. My main point was that there is still a lot of business out there, and you can sell a hell of a lot of droids. We are a lot better off then we were at launch (very few of the droids don't work, and even then generally its fairly minor things). Yes, our bug list has grown, but the major problems have been replaced with much smaller problems (most of which were probably there to begin with, just not evident since some things weren't working). I'd say right now we're better off than quite a few other professions (chefs, squad leaders, smugglers (they don't smuggle), and BE's).

guess that depends on how you sell them, most people buy mine because A. they want to own a droid since this is star wars and all, B. they look cool (there is nothing wrong with this reason), and C. they really are invaluable to any crafter, medic, and basic level combat character.

People people people....
We all agree (on some level) that the DE profession is broken.
What does normally happen to something broken?
It gets thrown away or its gets... here it comes... fixed!
I dont see SOE cancelling the DE's from the game, so they are gonna fix it.
Just have a little patience, you see SOE are woking on it.
I for one think its a real challenge to make some money to have a decent life in SWG, as a DE. And I dont mind waiting a while till it all gets "fixed". Theres so much other stuff to do out there!
Heck, you can even go sightseeing if you want!
Cheers!
DE is treating me well, making about 120ka day selling stuff, with about 4mil in the bank and I've only been MDE for about 2 weeks. Instead of selling stuff dirt cheap, why don't you make some decent droids with all +5 stats? Make a goal and make some profit. I'm tired of hearing all this whining about poor DEs

Jenden,
Your a prety comical guy. I especialy like the part in another thread where you claim to have made somewhere in the range of 2 million credits from droid sales. Thats a prety neat trick and all, but I honestly think your fullof it.
If it is true though, then your either the onlyDE on your server orfor some reason, people on your server have more money than they know what to do with.
I also find it comical that you seem to be the "Only" DE in the entire DE-Profession forum section who seems to be happy about the current state of disrepair.
Anyways, keep posting, Im having a great time. Oh, and what ever your on, I'll take a double
He's not the only one. I'm not ecstatic about our current condition, but we're nowhere near as bad off as many of you make it sound. You just ruin your own business with the attitudes you show, which is a shame. As for credits, I have a running total of all sales I've made and my DE sales total well over 4 mil. So you just go ahead and keep laughing Ellewen, those of us who understand what's good about our profession will just keep making those credits actually selling Droids instead of bad-mouthing them.

Don't believe it if you want, but my business is booming. There are plenty of other DE's on the server, and plenty of poor people, I just happen to be a good business man. Just the other day I sold someone (dagoth-ur, leader of D-A PA on tarq.) 125 droids. I regularly make 100k+ per day at least in droid sales. Why? People are happy with my service, not only do they buy multiple droids from me but they also recommend me to others. Its all about customer relations. As far as my feelings on the state of DE, as I've said we do have more than our fair share of bugs, but just take a look at some of the other professions. We've got products that most of the server needs and about 99% of the people on ther server wants, sales are good.

The real problem with DEs is 0 repeat business. Sure a Doctor needs a droid with a medic module, but once he has it?????? We never see thatperson again. Same with crafters, once they have a droid with a crafting station, why would they buy another??
Armorsmiths make 4 levels of armor, so they have repeat business, armor degrades fast, and 1 bad repair and item is destroyed and has to be replaced. Or, customer finds armor enhancements and has new armor made with these. The same goes with Weaponsmiths, even more so, as people gain and drop certs for weapons, they are constantly replacing them, or replacing them as they degrade.
Chefs at least sell a product that is consumed and then has to be replaced. Tailors? Well I know my toon has 5 changes of clothing and am always looking for something new to wear, although I cant speak for others on this matter.
Now how many people have come back to you and said they need another droid? My guess is 0. Our products, while nice, do not degrade at the rate of other crafted items (which i think is a good thing given the work we have to do to create a droid), but this does not promote repeat business.
This all goes back to the poor planning SOE did when making CHs and DEs. In my mind our roles are reversed. CHs should be a COMBAT class, able to sell only mounts to other players, while DEs should have a multitude of droids we can sell to other players, each dependant on the level the player has achieved is his chosen field.
Droids are so screwed up at this point, the whole DE class has to be rethought. My god, only .91% of players are DEs. We only beat the extremely lame Tank classes in number of players. And why?? Because CHs and their god-like pets have taken over the role of tanks in this game.
I cant believe that CH pets are the main tanks in this game and not droids, which i may add ARE MADE OF METAL NOT FLESH for gods sake.
Until CHs can only sell mounts to other players, and we have ALOT more droids to offer other players, droids that have to be replaced as the players advance, this game will continue to be PET WARS, and not STAR WARS.
yeah it's all about being a good businessman, you won't sell jack all if you set up your house in the middle of corellia, its about strategy. seriously, it all about getting out there and pushing your product.
4mil in DE sales. yes. if you don't believe it, come visit me on radiant. i've got shops across the galaxy.

While most of my business anymore is repeat business (and its still going strong) I will admit that there is no required repeat business (other than with the probot, which does wear out after heavy use).
