One has to realise the importance of droids, and that is for them to assist their masters, not replace them in something. Therefore, I see no problem with the weaker droids getting combat modules as they'd be an assistant to me in terms of doing damage, while I won the fight (just like the probot assists me in taking damage now but not doing much else, only in reverse).

Not saying I don't want combat droids in addition, but the weapon module also has great selling value as well. The gimmick of having the ability to put weapons in any droid will increase sales of droids, mark my words. Everyone will want to have the weapon module included standard.

I just don't see an R2 with a blaster being Star Wars.

I can understand that, but its not what you would call 'combat effective'. I would expect something like that to be used to repair or slice into things.

True. Just saying that is the biggest I can imagine and, as you say, it's **edit** lame.

Maybe an R2 could project a holo image of a creature or something to temporarily distract the attacker for a couple secs. It's going to be interesting to see what they have in mind for the "weapon module" thing.

Hey guys, just found a screenshot of R2's new weapon!

How about if they put the Shock prod, or Buzzsaw, that is already in the droid to good use? The art work for such items are already installed in each of the R series droids and we can see the Shock prod in use by R2 twice during RotJ. That would be pretty true to form, IMO.

Heh. That would awesome! R2s should be requires to slice terminals in battles to take over bases.

You know Sodan, the more I think about it, the more AWESOME this idea is!

Bases are already too easy to take over...you just have a team run in, slice the required terminals, and guard the door.

Having to keep an R2 unit alive to complete the task certainly adds a little challenge.

I like it.

I'd temper that statement that "good things have happened to BE's." If good things have happened...no one can really figure out what the hell they are. Hope to hell y'all get some more documentation on how your stuff's supposed to work when you get it. Try and get that in now as part of the package...documentation!

For all I can figure out with the cloning changes, I may have to hop around on one foot while I play the kazoo. Without documentation, who can tell?

Bravo! /cheer.... Yes I agree COMPLETLY. It would be nice to not have to retest every **edit** droid feature after every stinking patch. How hard is it to type up a few line in the patch note. Just another reason why Im convinced, "These Devs Arent the one who designed the game", they've just been tossed into it while the real Devs are off working on EQII.

Every patch changes SOMETHING in our profession and Not one single word is mentioned in the patch notes. You do the math...

I've gotten this image stuck in my head of a rampaging rageahaulic R2 running around... making that vulture-like screaming sound he makes and whipping out a CDEF! Starwarsy? Heck I dunno, but funny.

Mabee I am an optimist, but it has to happen soon, I dont see any reason that the devs are intentionally blackballing this profession. I would imagine that droids are one of the harder things to work in smoothly to the game cause they have to think of all the ways a person could cheat by useing its special atributes. I believe this has happened already you guys were talking in other posts about extra two missions on droid datapads. I dont think that that example should have been nerfed, but you can see how easy it is to endrun key rules in place for balance with a droid.

Leadhead, that all depends on how soon "soon" is to you. Youll be ripping your hair out before then I bet. Just like me and some of the others here who have been sickened by SOEs lack of motivation.

On the other hand, the description is vague enough that it COULD for instance, mean weapon modules that can be added to combat-capable droids, adding, say, laser or flamethrower capabilities to DZ70s and Probots, and then having that carry over to be usable when the new combat droids are made available.

At least that's one possible, though optimistic reading.

I'm expecting a slight revamp to many of the droid HAMs, when the combat modules are introduced, or a Protocol droid will be just as useful as a DZ70 in combat, with a price tag that is about 10 times more expensive.

Making SWG more Star Warsy. One droid at a time.
