You can experiment extraction rate on personals now? I thought they were only allowing that for mediums and heavies.

If this is the case, I've got a lot of harvesters to rebuild. Bleck.

The previous post should be used as a sinature for every DE - it sums everything up regarding our difficulty, and ha a certain undefineable sadness to it - it fits well with the state of our profession

Grinding to Novice DE is miserable. Grinding to Adv Frames sucks horribly. After that it's cake.

You'll need 7-8 mineral harvesters and 2-3 fiberplast harvesters. Put the minerals on high % steel. You'll get sufficient resources to grind out a box a day without a problem. Alternate 2 wind gens as needed to maintain sufficient power, and pull them back down to put the others back up when you have sufficient power to run them for a few days without worrying about power.

I grinded through DE easily this way. It's just everything else before it that blows.

Even that wasn't enough so -

BobcathGs Said regarding DE:

Although i dont post much, I must say this was the most painful grind I have done yet...(due to the holocron)... I can really feel everyones pain on this...After getting DE Master, I dropped it right away... I honestly dont know what keeps you guys going on this, i must have spent close to a mil just doing the grind. No one buys anything from DE, or very little...I hope your given one heck of an attack droid, because all of the masters out there have earned it ... in my opinion...

Shian says yes - 300,000 steel is not easy to get. nor is the Fiberplast.

Course the Holo players come from combat classes so they just reach into the bottomless pit of their combat pockets and buy these resources.....in one purchase.

The challenge in DE was always starting as an Artisan, and working up from there to buy and equip was what made it worth it as a hardship. I'ts damned hard (see DE on Chimaera) eek no player economy to help...well thats bside the point.

So to the HOLOCRON DE - would it not help our profession, and our boards from sludge, if a Holocron required 'one' to master DE then please let same individual be instantly given the resources only usable by him, let him grind his tiny mind to death, but more importantly, let him begone from our forum such that we no longer are polluted with the 'I/dont want to be here really /whine pls get me out of it soon as possibe/

I, for one , have nothing but comtempt for these Holo types, and if any DE forgets what it was like, I'll welcome you on Chimaera (Euro) where the real world of DE is revisited after people know what pays and what does not.

Sooo many DE's there at blueprints1 who suddenly realize their friend they started with - the armour/weap smith is rich (and possibly famous) while they have nothing to sell.

2 points only from this:

*** DE is a non profit profession in relation to other MA upward skillsets - if SOE dont want us let them say so------just say so TH... you would do the same for a terminally damaged 'Pet' of which you are so fond.

*** On this new server I have first hand experience - selling a MSE-chem-food module---argg dont make the players laugh please... they grind up medic and so on knowing full well that at the end they can buy cheap droids, everything in a MSE. Dear heavens, we are reduced to selling a part to an Architect who makes HUGE profits.

I want to say more..........................but I cant .... IT IS SO SAD

final word - bless CH in all it's glory - for if there is justice in this SWG world, the Tamer Devs will be fired, and true to LUCAS Devs will be hired. Then and only then will DE matter in this world

Flame me to death -I dont bloody care any more

You know you're a true blue genuine DE when you watch StarWars and after seeing R2-D2, you think "At least HIS repair module works..."

Not to mention seeing the R5 and R2's in Episode 1... and being able to quickly run through what components they are made of.

I'm still going to try to make it...

...let me ask you guys a question:

according to swgcraft.com, a mse droid yields 2.06 xp per unit of resource used, and a something called "droid storage compartment" yields 2.04 xp per unit, but the latter only requires one type of resource (any kind of metal).

So, would it be faster to gather the 602,353 units of any kind of metal to grind to master, or would it be faster to grind to 464,923 metal and 131,582 chemical to do it using MSE droids?

my only thinking is that keeping 2 wind and 8 metal extractors going for 1 kind of resource would be easier than keeping up with different kinds of resources whenever the shift happens.

let's see. a personal extractor can get how much mineral per day? 2k?

so, 602k will take 8 mineral extractors operating at 100% effeciency 38 days to get to Master DE...

so at 50%extraction rate, it would take 76 days?

wow.

I'm not sure I have the will power for that.

what am I doing wrong?

I must be in the wrong business. I make avery comfortable livingselling droids, I sell them every day. I don't have people asking me for 5k R2s or MSEs with nested modules, ever. I'm not even a master artisan (though my best friend is) & have to wait on one for my components.

And I love being a droid engineer.

The key to making your grind a little more palatable (as may have pointed out) is to be something else first. I was a master smuggler and had a steady income from slicing, vendor sales of clamp crates & muon gold as well as pre-sliced weapons & armor I purchased & sliced. Going DE from the start can be a very rocky road, but making droids is rewarding & fun. Instant gratification when you make a sell & customize the color scheme for your customer--not many professions get to see their creations in instant use after a sale.

The second key is to read these boards with blinders on & skip past the negativity & sorrow. I'd venture to say that there's more DEs who are happy than who are not (we just don't say so as much as the opposite does).

Welcome to the world of droids & I hope you have a great time. Shame you're not on Starsider so I could give you a hand in ways other than words.

Grinding any crating profession sucks. Takes allot of dedication, and patience. When I grinded to Master DE, there was no such thing as a practice mode, so it was tougher then. Grind out the items, then going back deleting them, also not getting as much xp. Delivery missions everyday to maintain harvestors was harsh. One thing I do admit, once you hit Master it becomes rewarding.

well i just started this game about a week ago and i'm omw to DE but as stated earlyer it's realy hard to fund harvestors ´so you can actualy get ores to grind with

but what i realy want to know is when i get to MDE will i have anything worth building ?? i see armor smiths make something like 200k on a single set of armor but compared to a droid that sells for like 5k (acording to these posts) it seems it's going to be hard to even make money for your harvestors if you don't get a higher income than that

i see weapon smiths and armor builders sell ALOT of stuff since it decays rather fast but what about a droid ?? are they decaying or will the market just fill up and you will not be able to sell anymore droids till a new player joins your server ?

Frichsness,

I sell droids every day from my vendor, and the lowest price droid I have in stock is 16,000 credits. It is entirely possible to make a good living from droid sales, but you must find a way to fund your early days. Once you are producing fully-armored probots and 110% medical modules, you can indeed make a decent living.

I'm not wealthy by the standards of some, but I make more than enough to keep me in business.

The biggest trick to Droid Engineering is being knowledgable about what does and doesn't work, and spending time with people explaining things.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

As you can see from the dates, it's 1 month later, and I'm happy to say that I have finally made Master DE.

But only thanks to Nostradamus on Ecplise, who helped me:

He gave me a house, access to his house and resources, solar generators, and so on.

Without his help, this grindwould have beennearly impossible for someone with no other income.

Tips I learned along the way:

  • Artisan missions pay more than delivery missions, and take less time

  • Highly experimentedpersonal extractors are just as good as uneperimented mediums, and cheaper to maintain.

  • You can use mineral harvestors to get power whenever there is no good windspots.

  • Better generators are worth the investment becausetheyfree up extra lots, wind generators suck.

  • Mounts and vehicles make artisan missions quicker, and less boring.

  • Mounts can be purcased cheaply enough on the bazaar, and most CH's will trainit a fewdays later for free.

  • Dantooine is safer for newbies than the "starting" planets, cause nothing spawns there once you leave the mission-created "ring of lairs"around the outposts.

  • 25 player cities per planet means25areas to survey for resources that are safe from creatures.

  • In game macros canreduce grinding down to a whole lot of double-clicking.

  • Double clicking is not a fun "game" - watch tv or something while you "grind."

  • Player cities are better than starting cities because you can build within the city limits, safe from creatures, close to the shuttle, andnear the mission terminal, reducing the travel times for missions, maintence, everything goes faster when your safely within the limits of a single large city.

  • Ask the mayor to put an artisan mission terminal in front of your house.

  • Having a benefactor helps a lot.
