Thread: REQUIRED READING: Centralized Droid Issues (10/08/03 2:30am PST)
Fix the armor frist then give them decent damages then the rest
Onemore bug to add:
The "Friend" programmingand it'sconverse command counterpartdo not function. They are supposed to allowa targeted member of your group the ability to control your droid, but instead does absolutely nothing.
The Master of a Protocol Droid should be able to customize the words he says to other ppl conversing with him. Something like the planned customized barking for vendors but with the option to create several dialoge trees.
I can see the reason for the popularity of this option, and I do agree that the idea is a good one. However, I see it being more of a vendor wishlist item than a droid wishlist item. The problems I see with this being a droid idea is that droids are mobile. The main purpose of this ideaappears to be thatyou want to have a droid at your vendor answering questions that the vendor itself should be able to answer. Also, since only one droid is permitted to be out at a time, this will have severe drawbacks if you wish to have a different droid out.
I think this ok for us that its a mobile droid and not a vendorbecause how often are we crafters in our house working hard when a customer comes in and asks us "Can i ask you a question"
While crafting or sitting atour shops we would havethe droid out and tell him to stay near the vendor and ppl would get used to to first speak with the droid.
This should not be a Vendor wishlist item!
It is necessary that its a mobile droid. When we walk through citiys we can have the Protocol Droid as a FAQ for players who asks us for stuff about our job.
Please dont drop this idea!!!!!
As of 08/13/2003 - I posted this earlier (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=13218) but this seems like a better place for it.
Things I have noticed that work/don’t work with DE(and some other things) since patch. Please confirm what you can or share you experiences.
Probots – Normal probots and adv probots have seen a boost with armor protection. I put lvl 4 armor in my normal and got 20% resistances. I put lvl 4 armor in my adv and got 40% resistances. I put lvl 6 armour in my adv and get 40% resistances. Is this the case or is this still a bug?
Vitality – My probota died and was still in my datapad. It was at 98/100 vitality and needed some repairs but was still pretty good. There is a “use vitality pack” option now…have no idea what that is for. It didn’t seem to do anything.
Modules:
Med Module – Well, I can get a pretty high medical rating on these so hopefully it is impacting the healers in a good way.
Storage Module – Works! I can store items in my droid now, save him to datapad and pull him out again and he retains all the items. I even logged out and he still had all the items. I kept something in him while I logged out overnight so I haven’t been able to check today but I’m thinking the item will still be in his inventory. I noticed that the storage module is limited to numbers of items…and only slightly limited to item weight…for instance, if I had 0/1 item storage and I put in 1 fiberplast it would take up all the space. If I put in 25k of fiberplast it would take up all the space. It didn’t seem to matter the quantity of each item, just the number of items. Can anyone confirm this as a bug or working as designed? Also, it seems that putting multiple storage modules in a single droid has a cumulative effect. Can anyone confirm this? My tests showed that this did work.
Data Module – Works! Only had one person get one of these. He said he stored 110 data elements on it. I watched him log and come back. Everything was there. PLEASE NOTE: He and his bot got ganked in town and I think he lost everything his bot was storing. Can anyone confirm this to be true?
Crafting stations – all seem to work with a few caveats that I will get into in a moment.
General socket cluster – This thing is the last really buggy thing left. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Here is what I have seen and tested. Whenever you load crafting stations into the GSC you cannot use the crafting stations. If you load something into it like item/data storage it works. I haven’t tried the repair module yet. Then once you create an R2 with the GSC and crafting stations in the service harnesses, you should be good to go. My rule of thumb is, do not put crafting stations in the GCS. Can anyone confirm or elaborate on this?
Armor modules – it seems like from armor 4 and up they all give the same resistances in a probota. Is this a bug or functioning as designed?
Customization – I can color customize the chassis of adv droids but when I put the final product together it is back to the same ugly color. I have also tried to use the /customize option and it says I lack the skills even though I am a Master DE with boosted customization. Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this a bug? How much customization skill do I need? Has anyone colored a droid in its final product since the patch?
Factories – looks like they can be shared now.
Houses – looks like they can be shared now. Also there is a limit to the items I a house. Anyone know what the numbers are for each style? Does this number include items in bags?
Surveying – No more macroing. When I first saw the “You have successfully sampled 52 units of blah blah…” I was shouting about how cool that was…until I started thinking about it. I had to click on that little window to continue sampling. Sampling is a long tedious task and it allows those of us that work during the day and have families actually make progress when we are away from the computer. I really don’t want to have to sit in front of my computer and watch sampling. Please remove this or allow the sampling to continue on.
Don't just look at the resistances. Also pay attention to the armor type, be it light, medium or heavy. This has a drastic effect on damage before the resistances are applied. 50% reduction in damage per rank of armor above the weapons armor piercing level and 25% additional damage for every rank below.
Vitality – My probota died and was still in my datapad. It was at 98/100 vitality and needed some repairs but was still pretty good. There is a “use vitality pack” option now…have no idea what that is for. It didn’t seem to do anything.
Never heard of this. Please feel free to elaborate.

This is the normal operation of all inventory.
PLEASE NOTE: He and his bot got ganked in town and I think he lost everything his bot was storing. Can anyone confirm this to be true?I believe this is indeed how it works... you pay a great price for loosing your droid.
Whenever you load crafting stations into the GSC you cannot use the crafting stations.I've had no problems with this as long as you only use 1 crafting station per droid and use it when you aren't near any other crafting station or a crafting module-equipped droid.
Armor modules – it seems like from armor 4 and up they all give the same resistances in a probota. Is this a bug or functioning as designed?
Could you please post all the values observed. Not just the resistances, but the armor level as well. I'm master, but due to a lack of resources, I can't make armor 5 or 6. For reference, a pair of 4's gives 40% with Medium armor.
I have also tried to use the /customize option and it says I lack the skills even though I am a Master DE with boosted customization. Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this a bug?
This is an incomplete system that didn't go in with the patch. The groundwork is there, but the system is disabled. Wait for another patch for this one.
Houses – looks like they can be shared now. Also there is a limit to the items I a house. Anyone know what the numbers are for each style? Does this number include items in bags?I believe the launcher says 75 per lot with a max of 250.
I really don’t want to have to sit in front of my computer and watch sampling. Please remove this or allow the sampling to continue on.SOE wants you to sit in front of your computer and watch sampling.
Hum i'm a bit lost here. Which one is the uptodate "Centralized Droid Issues" ?
Whatever, I posted my latest tests in:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=12654

H.Consider droids that can survey and report back on a particular resource. Perhaps even a high-end versionwith the ability to go toother planetsto determine which resources are available.
I. Consider droids that can help maintain installations. Senda droid out to pay mantenance. Send a droid out to collect resources. Send a droid out to deliver power. There are many ways to implement this as a viable system.

Mining is one of my job and gives me income. I just sell my resources to Artisans who don't want or don't have time to travel.
Y. Consider Binary Load Lifters droids to transfer resources from warehouses to factories provided both structures and the droid have the needed module. (need to implement warehouses)
Z. Consider specialized droid to load schematics in factories in preset ordrer when the last set is done and give theorder to the Binary Load Lifters to load the factory with the needed components
I'm not a droid engineer, but see this affecting de's and people who buy droids.
After the recent big patch, the radial menu you get on your droid doesn't list the store option anymore (have to store using the datapad now). This "store" option on the droid radial menu seems to have been replaced bya"dismiss" option and allows you to dismiss your droid without any confirmation or warning message.
May not seem like a big deal to most droid engineers and may not rank at the top of the list, but from the looks of it, several people have accidently deleted their droids.
Module stacking doesn't seem to be working as we had figured, but it is consistant. Currently I make level 2 armor. With experimentation I can make the module quality up to -2. That results in a 25% resists and light armor on a droid when I put it on a droid (I've only done this on a single armor slot normal probot). I made an adv probot and put 2 of these same modules from the same factory crate. Instead of being 50% as I expected it was a 40% resist and light armor. I've also made an Adv R4 unit. The purchaser only bought one armor unit, but I threw on a -5 in addition to the -2 I had sold him. This resulted also in a 40% resist and light armor. It seems to me, that 40% maybe the cap on how well armor can be? There's no point for me to put all -2 quality modules on a droid, when -5 + -2 = -2 + -2.
On a similar note, other threads report that item module stacking and data module stacking perform similarly. 2 7 rating storage modules result in just 10 storage.
