Alright, I feel bad about that. This is one of the most asked DE questions, in game and in the forums, so just had to be silly.

You need medic skill to use medical-equipped droids. Just about any droid can be medical-equipped, just gotta stick a medical module in it.

Currently you need Medical skill. Devs have talked about having them automagically heal you, but at a slow rate so as to not put doctors and medics out of business. However when or even if such a change will finally be implemented is unknown.

I am nota DE but was wondering if you made a droid that would heal you, kinda like the old faction pet "medic" would. My only fear is it would draw aggro, take one miss and fall apart forever, in which case forget about it.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a droid that can heal you. Medical droids only allow medics to heal outside of medcenters and camps.

yeah, they don't do much, the one advantage of the droid is that if you use a lvl 6 med module you get a 10% bonus over camps and hospitals, so there is a slight advantage to using a medical droid over the other options.

there was some talk of auto-stimming surgical droids a while back

The auto-stimming is something the devs said they might implement.

Emphasis on the word "might", and to me it seemed only as a suggestion thrown out there to see what we thought about the idea.
