Thread: Now Devs say Firt Quarter instead of January publish... DE's scre**d again?

I'll also add a little onto this. I happened to bump into JustG the other night on Ahazi and after a quick chat with him I am very confident that they are working hard on the DE project.

I would venture to say that negativity is not going to help. Making people face facts is one thing, but we don't have the facts. All we have is rumour and speculation. Our profession may be badly off, but at this stage I am ready to say it is not as 'broken' as it is complained about. Bent, yes. Broken, no. Attacking people because you're impatient will not serve to help you. Indeed, it'll only make to alienate those that are trying to help.

So I'll leave you all with a choice. Either continue to whine and complain (and hopefully eventually head over to a profession that isn't broken) or stay tuned and hang on for the ride. We have nowhere to go but up, so we might as well at least try and enjoy it.

Sometime back when the Devs were discussing combat droids they said that we would get mid-level combat droids in January and "Extremly High Level" combat droids in February.

So you swallowed everything the "Yes-man" had to say? nice. Oh and negativity isnt going to help?.... umm having no Dev for our profession isnt going to help either. Ok then... lets all hold hands and sing a few cheerfull songs. yay!

I personally look to the 'First Quarter' as typical corporate planning. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It gives them some room to get things right instead of rushing fixes out and breaking droids even more. I've had my fair share of frustrations with the lack of fixes for this profession. But we're finally starting to see them, and while they are slow in coming, they are being taken care of... and that's really all I expect.

I've spent way too long on development teams to expect anything else.

Lonkley, that is a freakin awesome post you just made. Thank you for taking the hour to make it.You just put into words what I know a lot of us are feeling at this point in time. You boil it all down and it really is all about time...and ours is soon.

Heh heh... you met a dev in game? I haven't ever seen a CSR

I would venture to say that negativity is not going to help. Making people face facts is one thing, but we don't have the facts. All we have is rumour and speculation.

This is part of the problem. We need to get the feedback we have been promised. We have presented hundreds - nay, thousands - of ideas with no offical response. If Sintrosi got a response, he was not permitted to present it to us.

Our profession may be badly off, but at this stage I am ready to say it is not as 'broken' as it is complained about. Bent, yes. Broken, no.

I would say that this is accurate. I have played a DE since day 2, and still enjoy it. Of course, I am also doing other (fun) aspects of the game - leading a guild, participating in the building of a city. My droid sales are going well, so in general I do try to keep my posts positive. However, the implication of the above quoted comments is that (1) the improvements will be later than promised, and that (2) the devs are going to go ahead with their initial plan - which was not greeted by the DE community as being a very good one, yet alone a very Star Wars-ie one (e.g., R2's toting flamethrowers).

Attacking people because you're impatient will not serve to help you. Indeed, it'll only make to alienate those that are trying to help.

The problem is that the developer team does not always treat it's player base with the respect that they expect from the player base. As opposed to treating us as customers for a service, they treat us in the same manner that your most arrogant system admin treats his users (I know of what I speak here, I have been on both sides of THAT fence).

I have never attacked the character of a dev. I have, however, complained about broken promises (e.g., the probot "temp fix", the housing issues, etc). And I will be vocal in as constructive manner as I can when I think that the devs are doing something wrong. Will I just rant? No. I'll try to provide alternatives. However, when it feels that those alternatives are ignored - and not just my alternatives, but everyone elses, it can get frustrating.

So I'll leave you all with a choice. Either continue to whine and complain (and hopefully eventually head over to a profession that isn't broken) or stay tuned and hang on for the ride.

You have to differentiate between complaining and negative constructive critisism. Remember, not all of us are lucky enough to get to talk to a dev in game - we are in the dark. Yes, this thread has a rather negative overtone to it, but most of the posters here are passionate about the DE profession. And most of us are hanging on for the ride.

We have nowhere to go but up, so we might as well at least try and enjoy it.

Hope you knocked on wood - that has been said before

1-stars also come from forum members who get a little annoyed at all the Pissin' 'n Moanin' topics. I know DEs aren't where they should be, but pointless whining doesn't help anyone...
