Thread: So Sintrosi proposed two naturals, Gorantoth and Drashk.

Ok folks, here are my thoughts...

I'm willing to take the position. But I think Drashk would also do a great job. Either way, I think that we'd be working closely together in order to insure that all bases are covered.

No, I don't have a character on TC. That's because I like to focus on Live. Drashk has also been doing a great job of testing on TC. If needed, I could put together a character on TC. Not really an issue since the correspondant has a quick road to MDE on TC.

I've been talking to TH and Sintrosi about this and we all seem to agree that the position is a little too large for one person. However, TH has assured me that the correspondant program cannot be expanded in that fashion, but that it doesn't mean unofficial partnerships can't take place.

Asking the correspondant to do all the testing on Live and TC while compiling ideas from the profession and working with the devs is going to cause burnout. As correspondant, I'd want someone else's finger on the pulse of changes before they go live. Someone I trust to get the job done so I could focus on doing my primary job and insuring that changes made on live are done properly without breaking anything else. If Drashk were correspondant, I'm sure he'd want someone else's finger on the Live servers to do the same. The correspondant can't be everywhere, and I think it's time this became a little larger than one person doing all the work.

That answers my question. Thank you. Others?

I concur that with teamwork the Droid Engineer profession can achieve new heights and by far is the best way to go. However, I've found no problem with running the DEA on Ahazi, maintaining a watchful eye on these boards, and starting the grind of DE on TC. Perhaps I just have a few too many extra hours with which to burn on SWG.

I agree that the support of those who are most qualified in their areas should be in charge of it (such as Drashk on TC, and coordination between various promimant DE community figures), but I do like to have my hands on everything so I know exactly what is happening with every change. My thought on the matter anyway.

Thanks eveyone for you're words of encouragement. I have already made my interests known to Sintrosi and Thunderheart both, and have listed a few reasons why I feel that I am sufficiently qualified for such a position, but I felt that I should key in a few more items to be considered...

I have a lot of spare time on my hands. I won't go into the RL reasons, but I am able to spend lot of time on the forums and in game, currently. I haven't been around much on my Live Server recently, due inpart to leveling three toons, instead of just the one. TC is a much more harsh environment for a crafter, in comparision to Live, and I need the added support of a Master Arch and a Master Weaponsmith as well. After this is done, I will be able to devote more time to my Live character. Gorantothis correct in that testing on Live, the Test Center, compling information, andmeeting with the DEVscould lead to burnout, butI have to agree with TheWoody, about wanting my hand in everything. In my honest opinion, the Correspondent needs to test out new content, keep an eye out for issues with current content, keeping a fingeron pulse of the community, while at the same time trying to give the DEVs any information that they ask for, in regards to needs and wants of the community.

The community, as a whole, is based on team work and more issues can be be found when working as a team. However, as a Correspondent, one must be able to shift through the hundereds of posts on the forums each day, find each of the issues, and then try and re-create the issue by his/herself. Being able to see an issue first hand makes it much easier to convey the information to the DEV team; finding the issue in the first place can only be donethroughthe help of the community.

Those are just my thoughts on the position.

2 /100ths of a credit:

I do believe it's critically important that whoever fills Sintrosi's shoes have a MDE on a live server and (preferably) an MDE on Test Center. I'd like to see a "great communicator" personally: someone who is fair, open, balanced, a straight talker, and as eager to listen as well as speak. I also believe that a person should not be excluded from consideration if they've been openly critical or frustrated with the status of the DE profession. It shows they care. I personally don't want someone who is or was laissez-faire about our problems and our profession....

In any case, I don't think we should be chanting "the king is dead, long live the king" just yet. I think that's just inappropriate. Sintrosi placed his notice, and it's still his position until TH has chosen and appointed his replacement and made an official announcement (or he completely removes himself from the game and forums entirely).

Also, drawing from my memories of other profession correspondent appointments, sometimes SOE has made some truly inexplicable choices for correspondents, so nobody should be considered as the "clear choice" in this matter. Even if we, the DE's consider one or two people to be obvious choices, TH and SOEmay have other opinions. Gorantoth and Drashk have made outstanding additions to the DE profession and our struggle as a whole, but this is entirely up to TH, SOE, and whoever they speak to about the position.

There's nothing wrong with us discussing who we would like to see as Sintrosi's replacement. My preference is for Drashk in light of all the detailed testing he has done on the Test Server and his other thoughtful posts (not all of which I agreed with!).

I'd be more than happy with either one of them, provided they both have Master DEs in Test and Live (I believe Drashk does; not sure about Gorantoth).

But where do you both stand on Shuttleports vs Militia? What speciallization would you choose?

Oh wait, sorry, I flashed back to the Politician forum for a sec...

Seriously though, both Gorantoth and Drashk would make fine correspondents. Both have shown the ability to communicate ideas and information effectively in the forums.

While I would like the correspondent to have a small interest in testing things they are aware of on TC, I would much rather leave that to a team of people who could then bring the observations here. Leave the correspondent free to collect the info from the forum and present it to the Devs, while still hopefully leaving them time to actually play the game and have some sort of personal life as well.
