Thread: Player Cities Droid buildings (Your ideas here)
A place for buyers to customize and buy their droids.
DEs put in the necessary components(Chassis, modules, armor segments, resources) into store. Buyers get a menu to customize their own droid(eg. R2+medical6) according to what they want without the DE to be around. Store uses the stored components to make the droids and puts it into buyer's inventory.
This will be cool and a whole lot convenient for DEs and buyers.
i have to agree with this it needs to take a Protocol chasis i dont see the need for other stuff in other buildings .. but this seems like a MUST .. Sintrosi PLEASE ! pass this one along

OK, first thing is that needs to have a quick change is that the player city Shuttleport and Starport schematics that the architect has today do not require a Protocol Droid as a component. Now, AFAIK, nobody has managed to build one and deploy it on TC yet. But, if they do and the thing magically acquires a protocol droid, I'd be really pissed about it. There's the first issue for you Sin. Get the devs to change the schematics to require a protocol droid as part of the schematic - probably the base protocol droid, not the advanced version. There's no need for modules here.
Please re-iterate the fact that a Droid should be a component for all buildings. I feel that this will give a lift to our profression that it needs.
Also one person stated in jest to include torture chambers. Well that is a great Idea. I remember C-3po shaking in fear when the power droid was upside down and his feet was being branded, and that was a normal town.
Remember when Lea was being questioned by Darth. Another chanber with my favorite DZ droid. I think that there can be an iterrigation chamber for the Bounty Hunters to put some one in and then let the droid get the information they need for their investigation.
Again, Optional droid slots for these types of rooms in all arch schematics.
I like where this idea is headed.
What I would like to see myself is a house that only DE's can place with a distict look about it so that when someone runs by they say "Hey, theres a DE's shop".
What I am asking for is a schematic that a Architect could make for us. Please dont take up more that 2 slots because I really need my other slots for my factorys and my harvestors. Sintrosi, I love your idea of a droid bath inside that structure.
I just really want a shop that screams "A droid engineer is here". Our day will come where we will have the most desired new item in the game and when that day comes I want people to to say to themselves, "Oh yeah, I remember where that house is" so they can find me easily.
Update:
I passed on the idea of a Protocol droid chasis being required for Shuttleport to the Player City DEV. He thinks its a great idea. He is going to look into this and some other recipes if he can find the time. ***
*** This in no way implies it will make it, only that he likes the idea and will see what can be done before push to production.
Mechanical Marketplace.
When a player places a droid into the market place booth, the droid is removed from his datapad temporarily and placed into the booth. If the droid has a personality chip can be programed to do barking as if a vendor in your home. This droid can have a limited amount of storage say 50 or so and will require maintainence to keep in the market place. On the droid you can place anything you want to sell like in the bazaar/vendor, but does not get included in your maximum vendor count.
This could be a boon to droid vendors as those without droids would have to buy one to us the marketplace and those droids like protocol droids would have a real purpose. Also I think that this would look really cool as a round or square building with the stalls facing to the inside and four entrances and a ring walkway with a light overhanging covering like the middle eastern Bazaars. Maybe a tent type booth at the entrances would be cool also.
Personally I'd love to see the workshop idea implemented asap for the next publish and functionality added along the line as possible.
The best thing about the workshop would be the art guy can re-use elements already available very easily. There's already the broken droids about, the eletric thing found near most droid trainers, overhead magnet (usually with an r2 attached) - and I'm sure there's others as well. Doing a distinctive exterior would probably be the hardest part.
Final thought on the new building: please please no long freaking hallways from the front door to the inside! I hate the houses that have this 'feature'.
Droid recharge stations!!!!!!!!
If they're going to make us charge our little buddies 45 times an hour, it would be nice if, at least while in town, there could be an option to avoid the tedium.
A small building with ports along the perimeter could be created, and droids belonging to citizens and 'guests' of the player city could automatically head there for recharging whenever they are in a low power state while within the city bounds.
Since taxes would go into this, it would be a money sink, but a money sink I think most droid owners could live with.
Protocoldroids as optional in star port and shuttle ports (personality determines the response when waiting on a shuttle :robotwink
maybe in the city hall as a greeter, stating when the next election will be held.
- (sarcastic) "Why in the world would you want to go there?Well the shuttle wil be here in <time>";
- (worshipful) "Hello dearSir/Madam. Your shuttle will be arriving in <time>";
- (stupid) "That shuttle thingwill be here in <time +/- 3 mins>, I think";
- (Geeky) "The Corellian Corvette (or shuttle type for shuttleport)that has been designated to carry you to your specified destination will be entering this <structure type> in approximately <time>"
- you get the idea
BLL droids as optional in star port and shuttle ports (to help load items)
Repair droids as optional in nearly all buildings (personality may effect something. perhaps converse with it to get detailed maintence lists, or a bark or /say when someone comes close or passes by. not directed at them, more like an "overheard" saying)
at least one MSE droid to be a required component in the city hall (carries data around, that's just logical), optional in other buildings.
Surgical droids as optional in med centers, possibly increasesing the effectiveness of the center higher than npc cities. (personality might determine random /say speach, or barks when a player is in a certain distance)
R-series droids as optional in all buildings, to help reduce the maintainence rate. Chassis should not matter, or matter little, for dyversities sake.
Tredwell? I can't think of anything right now.
Power droid as optional in a few buildings, especially the larger structures, and maybe based on how many droids are in it. would reduce maint rate. more than 1 power droid wouldn't reduce it any more.
Rather than have a droid related building, have all buildings benefit from droids.
- Optional droid components in building schematics to add functions (like crafting stations), or improve exsisting functions (more storage, improved medical capability)
- Options to donate droids to structures, in the same way we donate defenses to bases. Benefits of donating droids are same as above.
- Droid information kiosks that act as the /find command and as a bulletin board, although this may not be considered a "droid" thing, but rather an architect thing (since they can make computers).
I've seen others post the same idea. Not droid buildings, but droid incorporation into other buildings. That has my vote for best idea.
It sounds like there's an overall sentiment that droids with functional (logical) capabilities should be included as 'accessories' for all/most player-city structures. This would very likely only be the case with newly deeded structures.
I think this thread opens the possibility to talk about modifying existing droids.
My thought: Unified Droid "Service Center"
Features/capabilities:
Act as a power station (alone or with included Power Droids on hand (number selectable at time of structure deeding)).
Act as a repair station (white/black/vitality)
Act as customization abilities/features (with or without a DE's assistance), i.e. new paint options and model modifications.
Modify/upgrade existing droid models:
This it the 'meat' of this structure. The ability to remove/install different options to an existing droid. Here's how:
Structure 'looks' at the current droid to get an inventory of it's features/abilities. It then does a 'behind-the-curtain' rebuild of the droid, completely redeeding/retaming/recoloring). This machine would be complex enough that it could only be operated by a higher level (or Master) DE.
That's all for now...might have more later.
