Thread: Crafting Nerf Un-nerfed

I guess I have to really spend a few hours tomorrow and see how the crafting changes would have looked like.
But that still leaves the Devs (and us) with the problem how to balance the crafting system so it's fair for everyone. Anybody got a link to some clever ideas?I really don't think the problem is making the crafting system fair but simply getting your name out there. Once people buy weapons from a weaponsmith that stays well stocked, they are likely to go back. They know where the shop is and know the vendor will be stocked.
How many times have you pulled up vendors on the overhead map, only to go and find them empty? This is the main reason people won't try somebody new. It's a waste of time to meander all over the galaxy looking for a stocked vendor. Now, if you have the option of taking a shot in the dark to see if a "new guy" stocked his vendor, or going to a tried and true "veteran" that keeps the vendor stocked, where will you go?
I think a vast improvement to the Merchant profession would help new crafters greatly. Something along the lines of being able to see what's on a vendor before you have to travel to it. I'd try many more weaponsmiths, if I only knew they had what I wanted in stock.
Just my 2 credits.
Re: Merchant change
Actually, I think that a vendor that has nothing "For Sale" should automatically de-list itself from the planetary map. This would greatly cut down on the vendor clutter on the map, as well as only showing vendors that actually have product so you don't waste your time looking at "MaStAh WeApZ - GuNz - JuZt ReZtOcKeD" vendors that haven't been touched in a month.
I didnt really take a stance either way with the experimentation, since it doesnt matter with droids. I dont think the proposed nerf in itselfwas too bad, just the length of time to get current equipment out of the game would be tremendous. People were so ready with crates of pre-nerf goods it would of been out of control.

The crafting nerf is going live on Tues. but will be reverted by a hot-fix on Wed.
Now if they would only do that with droid armor and combat droids.
Ok TK now you have your precedent to work on...so please work on it.
Our Armour nerf could be reverted, and should be reverted..so now I wait to hear that either it HAS been reverted or a damned good reason (in detail..not a paragraph) why not.
Fact of the matter is we cant make CL10 droids, because the perfect resources dont exist, so please go after them and tell them they must please AT LEAST revert our armour nerf.
Or in the interests of equality stop pets being buffable by Docs and Foods (no--I dont want them to do that really..it would be calling for a nerf to balance a nerf and that is silly)
SO please get them to retract and inwardly consume our armour nerf, and lets see how it goes for a while..if they think it is unbalanced after a month or so..well then let them come back here with hard figures..actual metrics..to justify the actions they so lightly take.
As if we havn't suffered enough already.
Thankyou

I guess this is a bad time to mention the 1000 OQ polymer I've been hoarding

Yep Jav and so have I
all the OQ100s in fact, but you still cant make a 100% droid no matter how you try...so they will never reach the cap potential of CL10
Still, if you think about it, it is funny. The Devs just dont understand crafting at all..that is evident.

I've made 100% droids... its not hard if you've got 1000OQ chems.
So Jenden, you are telling me you have a 600 combat rated droid are you?
Please post the screenshots before I call you a liar, which I dont want to do. I'll be happy if you have.
lets see................

Cool it, I think Jenden was referring to the HAM in 'effectiveness' experimentation where if you have 1000 OQ chemicals of any sort maxing this is easily done.
It is my understanding that combat modules require 50/50 CD/OQ- a completely different kettle of fish and pretty hard to get a good rating on with resources at my disposal.
/sigh
I do wish people would stop jumping down each others throats, especially Jendens and other TC players who've put a lot of hard work in to give us a heads-up on what's coming- without them we wouldn't know what Combat Rating we can expect to get.

I appreciate Jenden's work as much as anyone, but you can't make a statement that says in effect 'It's OK, we can max out our droids with some good Polymer' when what you actually mean isonly HAM maximization.
Especially when that HAM is neither here nor there now the Armour is gone.
And stims or no stims, that is still the problem.
However, it does not alter the fact thateven with OQ1000 Polymer, getting a droid to a combat rating of 600 (ie the cap, which is apparently set to equate to a CL10 pet)is not going to be possible.

I think many wires are getting crossed here- I can't see how OQ1000 Polymer is going to help get a Combat rating of 600 at all- from what i've read of Jendens schematics it's gas and metal for the combat modules.
Jenden didn't say 'It's OK' he simply replied to YOUR statement that 100% droids weren't possible. I find it a tad hypocritical to accuse Jenden not being explicit enough with his comments when you hadn't mentioned combat rating up to that point.
I however don't want to turn this into a flaming war as it was obviuosly just 2 misunderstandings.. right??!! ;-)
On another note i wholeheartedly agree with your points about the armor nerf, not only does this make our droids weaker overall but it forces us to use TOP quality chemicals so they don't fall down in 1 hit- this is another barrier to entry into the DE market- as if making money wasn't hard enough before.
/sigh
I think i could have lived with the armor changes if they weren't retroactive- there's gonna be a LOT of junk probots out there!
Oh is there a thread detailing how the new resists scale with our armor modules? i.e. do we need lvl 6 modules to get 20% AP0 resists, if so i'm gonna go home and cry some more!
It is my understanding that combat modules require 50/50 CD/OQ- a completely different kettle of fish and pretty hard to get a good rating on with resources at my disposal.

ah, my mistake. Everyone had been saying that you wouldn't be using the droid for damage since that doesn't matter and only hurts the player, so I was just taking into consideration HAM. I've gotten my combat modules up to 85 with some ok resources, I believe drashk got them to 100 with with some pretty good resources, and was speculating that you could probably get them up to 125 if you found some amazing resources.
Heh well now thats cleared up (missunderstanding happen and things keep changing)...then I suppose it can be presumed the combat modules had only one experimentation line ?
Which was ok under the new crafting and experimentation model.....which has now been withdrawn due to popular demand.
So, what I'm now saying is that 100 or 125 rated combat modules will be impossible under the reverted system.
The question remains, is a CL10 droid rating based on 6 * 100 rated combat modules?
If it is...we cant make a CL10 Droid.......and as the previous poster said, that affects it's marketability.
