And that rebellion was really pretty much validated by Runesabre's comments about not wanting DC/DH to just be a metallic CH. Basically...they agreed with us.

5. 3/04: People are starting to forget who really waffled here...

Well...we didn't really 'waffle', Virt. That was a bad choice of words on my part (from the fact that I have to stay on top of WAY more posts/issues than I did in the past.

I'm kind of 'speed-TK421' at this point...it's not as easy as some might think.

Anyway...

We were right to vote DH 'off the island'. That much, I do know. However, you have to see how this would have affected the Devs' side.

They just want to be doubly (or tripley?) careful on what we do next, that's all.

I see how it affected them (and if you really want to know my opinion of how it affected them, feel free to PM me, I don't want to divert this thread any more).

And being careful is good. Less people hit the /cancel button when they're more careful.

TK,

I hightly respect you. You have done a lot for the DEs. I was extremely bad when you became the coorespondent for us all.

Now that I have said that...

The only reason why I haven't dropped DE is because I worked too hard and have put too much effort into being a Master Droid Engineer. SOE has screwed us over royally. They blatently put up false advertising of this patch and then left us to deal with the people on the servers who keep asking 'are there new droids?' 'what do the combat droids look like' and my favorite one 'can I get a droideka?'

Why did they make those wallpapers? why did they make this the 'droid invasion'? For what? Because they decided to add a few NPC droids into the game and began to 'overhaul' the Droid situation in the game? That is not a droid invasion. That is fixing problems and adding in some new content into the game.

The Droid Invasion was hypedand players believedthat DEs would be able to furnish Combat Capable Droids to the public which would be more fun or at least as fun as Bio-Engineered Pets. This is how the people saw it. If the DEVS actually went through the boards and actually polled some people, they would of realized it.

Doesn't SOE have people playing Galaxies alongside other players in order to see how reactions are? or do they just hope the TC and the boards give them enough information to work from?

I ask that SOE refrain from stating that any NPC/Mission/Dungeon/etc kind of Droids be STATED THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE A PART OF THAT. Why? Because MANY players have gotten MISLED by the blatent misleading pictures and announcements of the Droid Invasion.

When I got that email about the blastomech, it was never mentions that it was only for dungeon/mission/npc use. It seems to me that it was going to be a droid introduced to BE CRAFTED BY DEs.

How many people really check out the boards? I run into people daily that never check these boards because they just don't and they don't bother reading anything except skimming the new patch changes. By having those pictures up, you made our lives a lot hard.

This isn't to mention the fact that DEs can hardly craft things anymore on the run. We are now forced to use factories in order to be able to make droids at any timely matter. It'd take me way too long to make droids that way now. Now I'm sitting here with 7 slots devoted to factories so I can make the products I need in order to craft droids....which are only selling at a medium rate. I have over 100 guild members, not even a quarter of them have bought droids from me, and those that did, were misled by what those combat droids could be used for, so that's why they bought them.

Ok, /end rant

Here are my specific Publish 8 questions:

1. Is this list comprehensive, or are there other things on the burner?

2. Are those 4 the only newmodules being considered? We'd like to have
some constraints to create within.

3. Are there any new droid chassis (combat or non-combat) in Publish 8?

4. Is there any short-term plan being considered to put CL10+ combat droids into SWG?
What shape might such a plan take, what pitfalls does the Development team percieve?

5. I was sort of hoping for more variety in combat modules than just, "Combat module." Will
this system be enhanced or is it finalized at this point?

6. /mood sarcastic; If we had all of the developer attention for Publish 7, what the heck are all
these other changes doing in the patch notes?

I believe (without hearing for sure) that this is a pretty 'locked' list...but there's details on each item that aren't set yet, since it's all getting built. I'll see what I can find out and report back.

They can't tell how something will work until it's made.

Note: We just got P7 out the door...let's give them a bit of time to get set up for the P8 'pass'.

2. Are those 4 the only newmodules being considered? We'd like to have some constraints to create within.

Those are the only 4 that we know will be making an appearance (but I'll check on the status of others that might be under consideration). Right now, I'd starting thinking about how those 4 should be implemented, so you can have your comments ready (to copy/paste) when the P8 In-Development threads get posted.

3. Are there any new droid chassis (combat or non-combat) in Publish 8?

Nothing announced, no. (note: don't take this to mean that there is an un-announced chassis. As best as I'm aware, new chassis are not on the list..but I'll find out what I can and report back).

4. Is there any short-term plan being considered to put CL10+ combat droids into SWG? What shape might such a plan take, what pitfalls does the Development team percieve?

The current proposal for DE Hybrid is the 'focus thread' to stay on top of...

For the short term, it's finalized (from what I know, anyway).

6. /mood sarcastic; If we had all of the developer attention for Publish 7, what the heck are all these other changes doing in the patch notes?

They always do stuff on other features/professions. We were simply one of the primary focus points, that's all.

People keep refering back to this thread, saying "read it, support it", you keep pushing people to investigate it. I know the devs read a lot of what goes on on these forums but haven't seen them refer to it ever. Are the devs looking at it and taking it into consideration?

STILL no In Concept or In Development post on Publish 8 droid changes. Looks like we will get a battery bar and 4 'utility' modules of little utility.

I imagine we won't see any information on Publish 8 before it goes to TC. We will then be given a copy of the patch notes and a few questions like:
- Did you try the new entertainer modules?
- Do the smoke effects look ok?
- How do the light shows work for you?
- Are the other players excited about the new entertainer modules?
- How about a custom lube job?

Sorry for the On Topic post...but...way back when...

Give us a bit of time to get our ducks in a row and get some stuff up on the In Concept/ In Development boards for the next two publishes, and we will get the questions answered as well.

thx,

These changes in addition to combat droid modules and utility modules will address 8 of the 10 Droid Engineers’ Questions. We are very interested in hearing what people have to say throughout this discussion. I’ll post follow-up threads on In Dev and In Concept for each main topic.

Since the Woody Protocol is still in effect, I'll just say I'm really really looking forward to the In Concept threads for Publish 8.

Most hilarious. I was correct. The first solid info for Publish 8 will be the TC Patch notes.
