While yes, you can grind to MDE in a day or two if you have a sufficient stockpile of resources, I didn't have that luxury. Also, I'm a more casual gamer, and preferred to play the profession and play and experiment with my creations along the way. Being sort of hard-headed I was determined to earn a living from my droids, rather than use another profession to subsidize my droid habbit. All these things made for slow advancement.

The upside is that, though I don't know everything, I doknow a lot about droids and the expertise of the player matches the title on the 'toon.

Reading about droids here can be educational, but it's a complicated profession and will be even more so after Pub 8 goes live. Many folks here would agree that if you're going to grind, stop along the way, and make some real droids. As good as this forum is, there's no substitute for hands-on, learning-by-doing experience.
