Thread: Opening the Combat Droid Poll to general discussion
(1) Do you want to see new combat droids in the game?
(2) Do you want to see existing NON-combat droids (i.e. 3PO) made combat-capable?
- Sorry... just thought that might be more clear at first glance.
(3) Do you think that there should be a game-balancing system in place to prevent combat droids from being everywhere?
- Too general. We know that they're gonna be put in along the same lines as creature pets... maybe (hopefully) a bit more butt-kicking thana CL-10 creature, but they aren't gonna turn around and breakthat fix by allowing people CL-15 droid pets. A better question might be, "Do you think more powerful combat droids (if available) should be limited by a certification system."
(4) Do you think all players should be able to use all new droids?
- Kinda ignores the balance issue. Perhaps a better question might be, "Should combat droids be limited to levelsall players can use?"
(5) Do you think all DEs should be able to use all new droids?
- This one's kind of a no-brainer, I think. I'm not sure we even need to ask it.
(6) Do you want to see a DE-only combat droid (analogous to CH-only creatures, but not implying powerful)?
- And here's the meat of the issue. Perhaps laying it out with some of theissues a bit more visible would get a less knee-jerk response. "Given the new limits on CH and non-CH pets, should any combat droid analogous to CH-only pets be restricted to DE-only use."
(7) Droideka: yes or no?
- Duh.YES! Actually, the real question should be "Weak Droideka for the masses or stronger restricted (cert or class) Droideka ?"
(8) Which ofyour "yes" answersis your number one priority for droids?
Neshua, I think now would be a great time to post this. How about these as questions?

(8) If your droid only performed one function... what is the single most important thing that your droid could do for you?
(1) Do you want to see new combat droids in the game?
- Yes.
(2) Do you want to see existing combat droids (i.e. 3PO) made combat-capable?
- Why? Do you mean non-combat droids become combat capiable? No.
(3) Do you think that there should be a game-balancing system in place to prevent combat droids from being everywhere?
- Yes. As TH said, fixing DE will require more than a simple hotfix. Before you make a reply to this post, really think about what I'm saying through thoroughly. Now what makes the most sense, and will actually make every droid toter happy will be a certification system. We don't want new player A running around with a launcher pistol, do we? No, nor do we want him running around with a high-end combat droid.
Lets say for example, that we have a modifier, not unlike the experimentation point bonus, that defines your maximum droid level. This would be common to all advanced skill professions, so the Chef (3-0-3-0) is no different than the Bounty Hunter (3-0-3-0) in the droid is he able to possess.
How does this work? Well one would have the +1 Droid Level on tiers of their advanced profession, that way, no matter which you chose, be it combat or crafting you can possess the same level of droid. Players would start with a base of +10 (being the level of most common non-combat droids), thus being able to buy R2s etc, and as they gain more experience (worth, value, etc) they can possess better droids.
Every profession is happy, you'd have to spend all your skills points on 2 advanced professions to have a crack at the best combat droid available, and most of all, it makes perfect sense.
(4) Do you think all players should be able to use all new droids?
- Of course not. Do you think all CH players should be able to tame graul maulers regardless of their level? No.
(5) Do you think all DEs should be able to use all new droids?
- I'm going to remain reserved to that question.
(6) Do you want to see a DE-only combat droid (analogous to CH-only creatures, but not implying powerful)?
- DE-only combat? Perhaps, why combat though? Why not something usefull, like a portable factory?
(7) Droideka: yes or no?
- Yes, the model is already ingame, lets put it to some use.
(8) Which ofyour "yes" answersis your number one priority for droids?
- Well the introduction of new droid chassis, obviously.

I agree. You want to post your proposed questions (with our revisions) one last time, Nesh? Just so no one can say they didn't have a chance to comment on the questions.
Maybe we should add,
Do you think DEs and Droids deserve a MAJOR boost in functionality and effectiveness?
I'll second that one.
