Thread: Droid Crafting Revamp Proposal
I love most of it! The only part I frown at is the "any droid can have 6 modules" part. Its also established that cetain droids are more complex than others. I have always been a believer that the size and complexity of the chassis would determine the capacity for functions. Here is what I would like to see added...
Droid Chassis are assigned a Capacity and Complexity Rating. The quantity and type of droid Modules that can be installed into the chassis is therefore limited. Each droid Module has a Volume and Complexity Rating. The Volume of the installed modules can not exceed the Capacity of the Chassis. The Complexity of the Modules can not exceed the Complexity of the Chassis.
For example, all R-SeriesChassis have a capacity of 10 (out of 20). BLL has a 20. MSE is 2. The Complexity of an R5 is 2 (out of 10). R3 is a 10. BLL is a 5. Surgical is a 10.
This all combines into the "Compexity and Capacity" rating of a droid... or C&C. R3 is 10/10, BLL is 5/20, Surgical is a 10/6...
Finally, please, can we get rid of the dang "levels" of modules!! The level shoudl be determined solely through experimentation. Every Item Storage module begins at level 1, and is experimented up accordingly. The DE can choose when to stop experimenting. If I only want level 4 Armor module, I stop when I get there. If I do not have good enough resources or Experimentation pointsto get to level 4, I am out of luck.

If we were to ask for the ability to make all chassis avaiable for 6 Modules, yet at the same time ask that we also limit what droid can do what, we would only be sending mixed messages to the DEV team. In reality, this may be a good idea, but we are talking about the health of the game.
We need to swing the door wide and give every droid type the market that it should have, solely based on personal preference. The suggested innate functions that I mentioned are just an idea that many DEs would like to see, but if it came down to innate functions of all droids being capable of holding 6 modules, I would have to chose the 6 modules.
We can't limit ourselves while asking to make the system less limited it.

The Level system works for what we already have. If the level system was removed, then every single aspect of DE would need to be completely rewritten, not to mention the problems that would occur with the Data Module and named resources.
Instead of removing the Level system, I think that the stacking system should be removed, but that is just my own opinion.

Hey Drashk how does starships fit in to this? Say a r2 would a bigger data mod override the frames mod?
Any installed module,of the same type, could overwrite the innate function. This would allow for Lower and Higher level Astromechs.
The innate functions are more an icing on the cake though, compared to the ability to craft any type of droid with 6 modules. That section I think should be our main focus. Everything else would be really nice to have added, but is not as important as the ability to truely give each customer the droid that they want, based on their choices and not on available space.
Odd as it may be, I think that one of the best and worst changes to this profession happened the day that Cluster modules were fixed.
