See, this may seem like a good idea, but do it for all professions, it wouldn't be fair to the weaponsmiths' if their crafting fails when they use 5 legendary krayt tissues and some other really great loot to make the weapons. I guess what would be best would be a better system to determine the quality of goods. Yeah, a master should probably not critically fail an item, it just doesn't make sense.

Naa, its not needed. The amount of materials does not justify it.. Plus with droids and the amount of parts you should be making everything in a factory anyway IMO. Sure its sorta a bummer on final bulid but when you can make another in 2 seconds its not a big deal. Besides anyone that is making chasis by hand must really have a screw loose : P god i hate making these things it takes days to get a full run but when ya got 125 R3's in crates or 200 R2 chasis you will never make um by hand again trust me,,
Thats what factories are for, to make your parts with no crits : )
As for the comparison that ship wright doesnt need that anti critical helper,, ya right blow 250k resources in a singel build,.. hell even a pa hall doesnt use as much as some ship chasis I dont think the parts are protected but then again you are only losing max of about 3k that i can live with,, heck even losing 50k+ in one bulid IMO is a bit steep

I'm all for removing critical fails for everyone, or at least drastically reducing them, I cannot go though 5 assemblies with out a critical fail, and I'm Master Droid Engineer with all the stuff including bandoleer, and numerouse skill tapes.

Use a factory. I haven't had a crit fail making schematics in almost a year, and obviously the products made in factories NEVER critical fail.
