Thread: Combat Droids Coming our way soon!!!
Sorry..even the changes they are hinting at is to add combat modules to exsisting droids. Yea like i really want my R2 to tote a blaster or to see the new combat moves for my protocol droid! =P
They are ignoring any comments we have and a currently banging away at thier own twisted idea to add combat modules. There are still too many other bugs (just being able to name a two legged droid is one) to be adding combat to exsisting droids. Currently I don't even see a single 'current' droid that could handle combat even with a new weapons module. I have seen some new Non-ch Bio-engineered pets (cl10's with 5k ham) that will still wipe out a probot. I have played a DE since Beta and am about feed up with the whole thing. I should have just chased the holo professions
Least my chances for becomming a jedi is better then Sony fixing the droid engineer profession IMO
Dev's comment's at this point is just noise in my ear! Until we can see what is i wouldn't get my hopes too high.

I know, but just the general statement that the skill tree would be reitterated with a focus on combat droids is going to bring back a lot of arguments.

This is total BS. Developers strategy seems to be to continually ask us the same "what do you want" questions over and over, all the while developing their lame ideas and ignoring everything we say. Then, when they finish it, they say "well...you didn't get this info to me on time, it's too late to change anything." Sin being gone couldn't have come at a worse time.
The only thing that bugs me about that announcement is that the vast majority of the problems with the DE professions have nothing to do with combat droids. The announcement convey's the distinct impression that the developers either don't know or don't care about the underlying problems with the profession. Problems like the fact that experimentation is mostly useless because the quality of the components usually doesn't affect the outcome of the droid. Problems like the fact that personality chips are brokenand the droids that use them can't be trained or named properly because of it. Problems like the fact that whenever you experiment with the durability nothing EVER happens no matter how successful you are. Problems like the fact that you cannot see the actual item storage capacity or data storage capacity of a droid from looking at the deed (the only way to know what it will be is to make an educated guess from past experience and then ask your customers to "trust you").
If they just slap a gazillion combat options on top of that horribly broken underlying system without fixing those root problems I'll be quite depressed. I hope that is not what they do.
Lets see what some of the previous patches have done for us DEs.
1. Probot HAM and armor nerf (while at the same time CH pets got a huge boost)
2. Perma-Death for droids but not CH pets.
3. Droid crafting stations stopped functioning as private crafting stations and only acted as public.
4. Droid customization added while unbelievably buggy. Is still bugged.
5.Droid CL was dropped to 10 from 16 when CH nerf went in to affect.
6. After 7 months, experimentation still useless to DEs, a 0% probot has 820 HAM attack 50-60, a 100% probot has 820 HAM attack 70-80. That it, thats all we can affect. And on every other droid, experimentation has 0 effect.
For all the talk from the devs about how DEs are the #1 priority, actions speak louder than words. And the above list gives you a good indication of how DEs are thought of by the devs.
So go ahead, and get your hopes up that we will get some much needed attention. But my feeling is they will just screw us even more. Look for our new droids to be extremely buggy, and require dropped items to make, items that will be near impossible to find, and end up costing 1 million credits apiece from players that are actually able to fight.
Actually, experimenting on a Probot's Effectiveness raises HAM. I had a 94% expertimented Probot with 826 HAM, leading me to believe it has a glass ceiling of 830 HAM. Woo.
The Quality effects attack capability, but experimenting on armor is worthless. Experimenting on the components of the probots does seem to allow greater experimentation on the finished product though. Now if they could just do that with all the other droids.
828 HAM is the Max with 100% success. If you mouse over the Probots HAM bar it will only register as having 820 HAM though, no matter what your datapad tells you.

Lol, the only reason I experiment them is because people actually believe what they see. If that deed says 827 HAM, it has to better than the guy down the street selling the 820 ones. Oh so little they know, but they still go off happy and I never hear anything back about 'Where did my extra 7 HAM go !!?"
