Looking at this from a broader perspective, I've had that problem with any container! I read elsewhere that the solution is just to move it elsewhere in the house and try to open it again. Seems only to happen with containers that are opened indoors. I was able to resolve it eventually, and recovered my items by moving them to my inv first as recommended above.

I have this same problem when putting crafting stations (anykind) into a backpack in my house. The only way I can get them out is to drag them to my inventory. If I try to use the radial menu, the only choice I get is "examine". This may be the same case with the droids? Just a thought.
