yeh - great idea for the guys that are sitting within 1k of coronet but i'm within 3k of nashal on talus (and staying so keep ppl coming to the guild shops) and i need an incentive for people to come to my shop - that of my (fairly) low prices.
But that's okay because cities always do sell stuff for a much higher price don't they? They have the benefit of convenience whereas my customers have to be a mite more devoted to come and see me.
so please - raise your prices so i can get more small-town customers

Undeadfish Droid Configurator
I'm a lazy guy, so I use the droid configurator in the link above to price all my droids. It's not the most up-to-date or accurate, but the price is just about right. Pretty easy to use to, just open your internet browser while playing SWG and press ALT-TAB to quickly determine a price for your customer. None of them have ever said it was too expensive before (except one newb who said I quoted him 5k for a fully loaded probot advanced combat, which quickly earned the response "Get the f*** out of my face noob").

Totally agree...and im not even a droid engineer.
apart from the new blowy up things-) and probots, seekers.everything you make is a 1 time purchase only..Archtects and tailors have it the same.
there is only a limited number of droids you can sell and anyone selling cheap is only hurting themselves. Of course it may be that the very cheap sellers will move onto another popular class when demand drops, but this does nothing for the dedicated DE's that play the game to BE droid engineers.

Said this once in another thread and I'll say it again here. The one thing DE's have never been hurting for is a profit margin. I know most of us don't like to admit it, but just about every droid you could make (with the exception of the BLL) costs under 2k to make. Now, we may not have as high a profit margin as WS and AS (but I do know most DE's probably have 3-4 times the profit margin architects), but when you're talking about 10 million versus 30 million in the bank it really doesn't matter.
Closing message is charge whatever you feel like, if your goal is to make as many credits as you can than gouge the hell out of people for all you can. If you've got different motives, then price according to those.

I have one issue with the "count up the components based on random resources" system, it doesn't actually have any bearing on functionality.
**edit** and Jane are both Master DEs. Jane spends a lot of time watching resources and making sure she has the best stuff going. **edit** spends a lot of time watching football.
**edit** and Jane both want to sell Advanced Probots with lots of combat modules. Jane makes a combat module with a rating of +100, uses four for a total of 400. **edit** makes a combat module with a rating of 66 and uses six for the same total of 400.
Jane throws in two level one data modules (just to get some space for batteries) and they both go off to market.
According to the sites cited here, **edit**'s should sell for more.

According to the pricing guide, 48500 is the right price for a swoop... all I can say is.. good luck selling swoops for almost 50K!

Nicely put, Jenden... Althought I know some folks (myself excluded)that might... err... will take exception to your usage of the word "gouge"

charge what you think is worth your time and what you had to pay to make it. Who cares if other are selling cheaper, or really high. If your good to your customers they will pay anything that is reasonable.

Well, I agree that we should not be greedy. But I also don't think that the pricing guide developed by Swampsurfer represents greed.
For those of you shouting greed here, have you really looked at the price list? Have you looked at the equation to see just how the prices are determined? I personally think it is very fair.
It isn't just about making a buck. I agree that there is far more involved here: It is called service. I make friends with my customers. I don't just go for the big ADV R3 sale each time. I ask them what it is they are looking to do, then I explain how many module slots these functions will take. Then I explain which chassis will hold those modules. Whether it is a MSE with 110 medcap or an ADV Surgical droid with 110 medcap, I am happy to make the customer whatever they want to buy...Not what I want to sell them. My customers come back to me. My customers refer their friends to me. Even if we all sold carbon copy droids, we can all be different. I operate under the philosophy that a happy customer is a return customer. All of my customers get free batteries when they buy a droid. They get a free customization. I also offer a trade-in program to encourage customers to return to me when they want to upgrade to a new droid. And, lastly, I offer referral incentives. It is called value-added service.
So please don't mistake my intentions here as greed. I just want to make sure DEs can prosper and profit from our products just as the other professions can.
