I must Say WOW, Im not a DE but i see alot of usefull droids in this patch =), me personally as a combat type love the healing droid and the harvesting droid!!!

i personally like the stimpack/pez dispensor idea... however the other moduels may lend to people not even needing to waste skill points to achieve the same goals... not to mention hte trap droids make it so the person throwing the trap wont waste their combat queue for traps... but its pve so its ok... now if they would only add a smuggler droid my template will be complete

I like the effort made by the dev's in this publish. I think when we turned down the DH/DC idea (which I will admit I was opposed to)we really tied their hands on the Droid Invasion. This publish shows alot of work on their part. and it also shows that they were listing to our ideas, they just were not commenting on them.


In all I would have liked to have seen more in the way of combat in this Droid Invasion, but I am happy with the end result given the circumstances.

But, I do know that the stim pack mod stated it could hold stim pack A's...? I don't get it...

strength isn't the only factor, I made an R3 with these and it heals at 2 second intervals. With 100 strength A's (I'm sure you could get better) your healing at 500 points per 10 seconds (standard master doc heal timer). This is very nice for something thats just supposed to keep you up for a bit while the real doc can get to you.

The point is that so long as a medic with Pharm IV owns and loads the droid, anyone in that medic's group can request a stim from the droid. Whether or not you have medic skills.


As someone with no medic skills myself, I can't even count the times I've been near death screaming for someone to heal me, only to find myself in the cloning center a few moments later. If there was a droid with one of these modules in our group and nearby (within 30 meters per Jenden's test) then I could just request a stim that would buy a little time for a medic to get over to me and give me some better treatment. Sounds like a good thing to me.


Honestly, and I say this with good intentions, you need to leave the all-or-nothing mentality at the door. They give us combat modules, we complain that we didn't CL50 droidekas. They give us utility modules, we complain that we still have to do our jobs as medics or scouts or surveyors. Droids (in this game at least) are meant to supplement a player, not replace them. This module is a perfect example of that.

There is a lot to love about Pub8 but I think a few short things make our new modules just shy of brilliant.


Barker Module- The Advertising 4 instead of Novice Merchant requirement shift, will killmost of themarket for this droid.


Maintenance Module- Maintenance without Power is like PB&J with no J, dry and barely edible. I will only use this module to track what I have out currently, and then only if it isnt a royal pain to use. I think the idea of putting a maint module in different chassis to handle different jobs is a good one (see maint thread).


Survey Droids- The closest of all to being a sure fire hit. Saddled with a rare resource to build it, and a marginally useful data return, I am deeply worried that it will be the greatest droid that never went anywhere.


I dont hate publish 8, any love is better than no love, but it isn't all wine and roses either.

It looks good from reading it online. Is it out live in game as of today? I guess I'll know tonight when I log on and check my skill tree.


Does anyone know if you have to buy a whole bunch of resources for the different droids? That has always been my issue before. I think steel should just be steel, aluminum just plain aluminum. Not Ditanium, Duralumunin, and all the other names they invent for resources.


Kind of bummed about the merchant droid only working if you have advertising 4. I will lose a few pre-orders on that one now.


Ok - off subject on Droids, but I am bummed about the auto-repair vehicle fix. Are they going to create an auto repair kits for us to use or are we all just supposed to buy new vehicles whenever they take a dump (as in becoming disabled), or waste credits on the vehicle garage repair when needed. The garages are a waste because I've paid to have my vehicle fixed and the very next time I pull it out of my datapad - BOOM! - It's on fire and needs repair again!
