Thread: Revised Hybrid DE Proposal 2.0 -- PLS VOTE INSIDE; SOLUTION TO DROID INVASION!!!
Although I don't like having to become an artisan to use a good combat droid... but it seems like a logical plan.
1 and 4
Although if I read that correctly is the proposal for 1 droid only? I would think to help prevent dabblers a +1 to Called Droids might be able to get placed either at master or somewhere else in line. Maybe this is where ranged support can come in as a crossover to help balance it if the devs needed that pacification.
1 and 4 provide imo the best situation for a MDE to control effective droids and lends MA as technical knowledge base which is realistic. Any other crafter with an MA base can spend a few more points and benifit from reliable combat capable support droids. I think this is fantastic. I feel all happy inside just thinking about it.
Greetings,
DE's need to be fixed and their battlebots need to be battlebots.
One addition, make controlling higher level droids a DE combat xp level. If you are comparing to CH then make it comparable, no 2 graul maulers out, let the DE's who are up in XP control high level bots.
/agree
Though I'm not a DE, so if my vote doesn't count I'll understand. I just think droids need to be more powerful than CL 10.
No strong preference for any variant. Personally, I think it's silly that players are limited to CL 10 droids. These are /machines/, programmed to follow their master....just because a droid is more powerful doesn't mean it can't be ordered around by voice command by a toddler, if necessary. Creatures are different and would require expertise to control 'dangerous' varieties (like a lion tamer, for instance).
So I'm in favor of allowing everyone to have 1 combat droid of any level up to the max (which would surely be higher than CL 10).
For game balance, I guess I can understand the need to make this a DE thing to control droids higher than CL 10....and that's fine, too, I guess. But in /reality/, a droid is a machine that takes commands from its designated master. It doesn't require sophisticated knowledge of how a computer works to use one, or a television....nor should a droid, no matter how complex its AI and programming might be.
