Thread: State of the profession October 29th, 2003
Hey all,
Yet another patch, yet no more fixes for droids... All of the issues I posted earlier still exist (other thread of same name), and I have found more, and one or two I didn't post before...
1. Droids with multiple crafting modules do not function properly all the time. Sometimes some modules work, while others do not.
2. Cross-talk between droids. I have seen instances where droid crafting stations stop working when someone else pulls another droid out in close proximity.
3. No rating for droid crafting stations. House crafting stations have ratings, why not droid crafting stations?
4. One of the patches I thought they stated power droids can power up harvesters... I could be wrong, but I thought I read that... Still can't do it, if that is indeed the case. Can charge droids, which we still can't tell if the droids are charged or not.
5. Still no repair kits available to repair droids... There are kits for everything else, nothing for droids.
I know several DE's that are planning on quitting... I am planning on nuking my DE if something doesn't get done in the next few patches... I am not trying to threaten, but I am tired of submitting bug reports, letting customer service know the issuesI am having from asking a droid question (what is the purpose of a binary load lifter) to technical issues and being told they don't do anything with those types of issues (what do they do EXACTLY), and posting the issues I find to find nothing done. It isn't like I am the only one having these issues. I am not a big poster, however the quantity of messages on this board with no changes really makes me angry... People pay for this game to be DE's, yet nothing gets done... Can someone at least give us an update or ETA on resolution of ANY droid issue?

The state of the proffession...dying a slow and painful death
More major patches have come and gone but DE still remains nerfed. The Devs are just too busy nerfing other professions to fix the mess they left DE in. A list of bugs as long as your arm and half the droids are completely useless. Finincially the proffession is a distaster..you would have to sell each droid for about 200k to maintain a living seeing as u sell one about once a month. As it is there are hardly any Master DE's around and soon there will be none if the whole driod issue is not fixed and fixed quickly. A Fair go. Thats all we are after.

Looking at Thunderhearts posts about DE progress it seems clear that much of the code for droids are dependent on lower level subsystems. These subsystems possibly affectseveraldifferent professions and can therefore not be easily changed. For example; subsystems built for pets are used also in droids and would have to be overridden in some way to suit droids better without changing the petsystem.
Obviously this is only speculation from my side but if true, it could take a long time before many of the issues with droids are resolved.
Well I made DE Master today and was overjoyed to see all the lovely new droids I could make. Dug up a few of my Sefo steel extractors and a fibreplast extractor and headed for the star port with survey tool in hand ready to find that premium ore we all need to make high end droids. (Chilastra server BTW)
Imagine my surprise (and huge hit to the wallet) after traveling to EVERY planet in the system the lack of premium steel! Durasteel or what ever it is (I'm crap at names!) doesnt exist!ATM two types of steel available Sefo and Omniwaefiam or something like that neither which is anygood to me! Both have crap stats for even makin standard droids let alone ADV chassis.
Tried vendors to see if any Durasteel was available and found one (thanks to a PA m8 who gave me a WP) and very reasonably priced at 2000 untitsfor 250k! Bargain!! I can buy that and probably only make a small to gigantic loss on every droid I make. ![]()
So I now have a broken profession which I'm not even able to pursue because I can't get the resources to build the bloody things.
This board really has been an eye-opener. Didn't read it before today and I wonder now why I bothered at all with the stomache churning grind of becoming MASTER DROID ENGINEER! oh , hold on, I got a badge!
I wish i had listen to my friends who have been playing awhile (mostly ex-EQers) who said not to bother with DE. I was stubborn, I am now disappointed.

Last week I posted a run of 22 questions to the community and going forward in January after the holidays, please check the “In Concept” part of the web site. Well have some information outlining some of the feedback we’d like to get from everyone.
I can't find the 'In Concept' bit he's talking about, has anyone found it? Can they post a link? Is there any USEFUL info for a change?
