Thread: FYI: Probot nerf
"It's amazing how many things they broke after the last day of before the release date."
Yeah! I've been saying this for weeks! It's a bitch to having to keep relogging to see waypoints (definate beta bug).
And have you guys noticed the VERSION NUMBER jumping from the 5xxx.xx to 4xxx.xx and back to 5xxxx.xx then 4xxx.xx again? What is up with that? Um, I think version numbers are supposed to constantly INCREASE unless you TOTALLY are imcompetent and **edit** something up.
Thank GOD this nerf has come. Droid Engineers have smugly been pilfering away hundreds of thousands worth of resources making nothing in return, thinking they're all that because they get to toss and burn through resources and not make money back. They coyly sit back selling their useless broken trinkets for 500 coins and sell one to someone who doesn't know how useless they are once and a while. What gall, to have one actual useful thing in the Droid Engineer line that they finally get to up higher in their skill line after mucho wasting and burning of money and resources. Now Droid Engineering could use a complete overhall and tons of work done, so why leave them with one useful tool? That's pretty unfair to let them make something useful and wanted - it totally doesn't fit in with the rest of the Droid Engineer profession. I'm green with envy at the exciting tells the Droid Engineers will be getting from all the people who paid good money for useless robots soon. They'll have so many friends.
Oh wait, look, Holocron seemed to have jammed a sarcastic personality chip right up my backside. Let me take it back out and speak normally for a moment.
Honestly, Droid Engineering is pretty useless except for two things. One, was Droids holding missions, but wait, that was an exploit? Okay that's gone. That's all good, there's one thing left that makes it worth it in the end, Probots! Oh yeah, that's what's getting destroyed. Could we bind Probots to the level of their user somehow based on skill trees? Sure. Could there be varying level of fighting bots up to that point that don't die to a single chuba? Sure. Could the Devs be more out of touch about the Droid Engineering profession? Signs point to no.

Hehe Its amazing how quick the market is effected. I cant sell Probots in game here for 8k
people give me the funny eye and say "You know they are nerfing those, they should go for like 5k now."
hehe

A concern from the perspective of Bounty Hunters is that currently level 1 difficult BH missions, performed by a BH with level IV BH weapon skills, takes the lives of two probots to take down a mark. If Probots are weakened, this means that completing already very difficult missions will become even more difficult. If Probots can be deathblowed by NPCs, Bounty Hunters will be losing pets possibly every BH mission run when BH missions beyond level 1 difficulty are not profitable (see my, "Bounty Hunter Bugs List' for more details).
If there is to be a droid certification, Bounty Hunters will require a combat droid that can withstand the very high difficulty that BH mission NPCs represent. While other professions may be able to utilize pets to augment their profession's performance, Bounty Hunters do not have the extra skill points to diversify in this manner and depend disproportionately upon their droids especially for BH mission purposes.
A suggestion to help both the Droid Engineers and address one element of the current unprofitability of BH missions would be to have a new droid available for BH exclusive use that can repeatedly seek out and locate BH mission targets without paying 200cr/1000cr per attempt currently required with the purchased Seeker and Probe droids.
While these changes are necessary, Bounty Hunters are going to have their current profession-related problems worsened (try levelling Light Lightning Canon when the special combat moves do not work and all that can be done is slowly plink away at a target while a Probot soaks up damage that would elsewise be directed against the BH for a very long period of time).
One bug that should be addressed with droids is that currently droids can be poisoned. Not only does it not make sense for mechanical entities to be poisoned, but if Probots are to be scaled down the large poison dots being applied by creatures will become a larger issue.
Just slapping on a nerf to probots and giving certs for them is going about it totally wrong.. Just as with CH. Don't make the game stupider then it already is, Make it MORE intelligent, make the community work to manage the higher level items, and make users work together, or join guilds.. broaden the horizon a bit.
Droid Engineers should be able to add more to the droids and they should be more useful. 3PO's should be communication droids, it'd be a good idea to change certifications to need the use of 3PO's to talk back and forth.
Surgical droids should be the medical units in combat, or should be able to be used in placement of medics, or be bale to work WITH medics. Rather then be totally useless..
Combat droids should be changed, quite a bit I agree. The lower end combat droids, are worthless, the higher end are UNDERPOWERED.. theres no real difference between a probot and an advanced.. who cares?
Alright, so medics care.. item storage last I checked still didn't work for a dime.Repair mods working or not is iffy.
Make the bots require special schematics to be made. Or higher end combat droids (perhaps droids used from the movies like the trade federation droids..) Available off of combat corpses, or off of missions from high end NPC's, These schematics, of course haev a limited use (making these bots pricey.. and rare)
Powerups may be available for them too.. or different specialized modules.
Certs may be a decent idea to work with too for some of the higher end droids.. such and such has to do training to gain the ability to use the droid (but I still think the droid certs should be available to ANYONE.. and not impossible to gain.. surveyers use droids to survive!)
A bit more food for thought ![]()

So you want our input? Is that supposed to make us feel good or something, since it doesnt matter what we say? Your going to do what you want to do regardless of any comments made here.
The BIG fear many of us that really wanted to be Droid Engineers is, how long it is going to take untill something gets fixed!
The game is almost a month old and so far for DE's we only get nerf's with the broken line "maybe a fix or 2 in the next update".
I suppose its pointless to say that maybe if droids had been working in beta, we might have been able to avoid some of this in release.
Could your devs explain to me "how I'm supposed to be playing their game?"
Obviously there is only supposed to be ONE way to play it. Its been stated before that if we want to power-game and grind stuff out just for xp, thats fine, but you dont have to. Like we can actually make and sell enough droids/parts/batteries (now) to make Master Droid Engineer before the sun burns out! I still like your example of the medic who was making good money selling his extra resources. Is that what we are supposed to do? Make a couple of droids a week and sell the extra resources?
But I have faith still, I'm sure the med fix will actually break the med unit so it cant heal at all.
And of course storage, "dev -hey you can put stuff in them already, so that works. Oh, you want to be able to take the stuff back out of it? Why? Well that might get fixed in the next update or so."
"So you want our input? Is that supposed to make us feel good or something, since it doesnt matter what we say?"
This was only mentioned so that Holo can live with himself and not feel like a complete ass. Hmmm, now Droid Engineers are not going to like these changes BUT if I ask them what their opinions are, it'll make it all better =) Ahhh.
Try again Holo, you completely dropped the ball on this. Fix, don't nerf and where the HELL is the testing at? WHY is there a Test Center server?!?
