And to answer a previous post, I don't think there are any DENet's for other professions, especially since most other professions do NOT have the feeling of unity that the DE Community does (everyone here wants to work together and helps each other, other boards saying "Hi" turns into a competetion about how someone on Bria or Wanderhome can make a better "Hi" and how cool their +20 Exp suit is...)

And, thus, the reason why the DE profession will rule the galaxy(s) when the SE hits. Solidarity!

Hehehe...

But seriously, the DENets allow for us to actually get the stats on resources that we'd lack via the Survey droid.

So, if you've not signed on to one yet, you might want to check the DEA / DENet sticky. I can see DEs posting stats on reported resources sent back from the Survey tool.

So, we can get the stats.....in a way.

I think that balance would be an issue if the droid did not destroy a survey tool per use and did not require a Rare named type of crystaline Gemstone that we are in competition with armoursmiths for, and a possibly rare Named type of steel. In most of the servers economys I don't think that these droids are going to be compeditive in relation to the cost of the resources if they don't give at least some idea of resource quality

Sadly... our PA had 2 Droid Engineers, and when both our WS's wanted out I figured I'd try my hand at it. So I'm no longer a true DE. If DE's become decent enough money makers perhaps Chef can take the fall for me and DE can support my WS habits!

Thanks for the report, Jenden!

Unfortunately, this is underwhelming at best. Yes, some people will find it useful. No, there aren't enough of them to make a market for this droid.

The meat of the surveying "game" is finding resource concentrations, not figuring out the stats on the current resources. This droid is of extremely limited use, whereas a droid that reported stats would be very useful without ruining the surveying game.

The only use I can think of for this droid is checking to see whether or not my off-planet harvesters are still running, and even that is more easily accomplished by checking SWGCraft before I log in.

If they don't end up selling much (via the metrics the Devs can see), we might be able to get them tweaked out a bit down the line.

That's what I'm starting to see shape for this situation...

But only if it's kept up to date.

TK, have you tried seeing if they will link how much info you get to how much surveying skill you have? Meaning maybe a level 4 surveyor or Master Art could get some stat info? This way, even though it may make things easier, people need to pay skill points.

Or alternativly, maybe just get a reading of OQ? No other stats then that, or some rating system. It should never be as good as going out surveying, but should be useful to determine WHERE to survey.

I understand them not wanting to make things to easy, but getting the stats is nothing that you can't get from SWGCRAFT or anywhere else. So nothing would be easier, we simply would get the same info in game.

On a side note, Vert Crystal is on Scylla, (sigh) OQ 6

I feel with these droids SWGcraft will be easier to keep updated. Those few individuals that do keep the resources upto date will be buying or in some cases making them. And within 30 minutes the data will be updated across all planets, because they can. Then it is just a matter of getting the stats, hand sampling an such.

I've put the basic idea out there but I've not heard any comments back. This would very likely be something that would have to happen to the module down the line, if it was seen as needed.

It's more work, basically, just to add in stats...let alone linking in to the Survey skill level, etc.

I am a bit disapointed that the Survey droid dont return stats on resources. It can be we will be seeing it down the line. It can be that SOE thinks it will be to unbalanced with stats.

How about a compilaton of all the stats on the resource in one sum? Say you send it out to find Inorganics.

One of the inorganics it returns is the Lommite Carbonate Ore - Ifaw.

The stats on that is.

CR:704, DR:412, HR:716, MA:631, OQ: 395, SR:365, UT:611. But instead of getting that list we get

Lommite Carbonite Ore - Ifaw - 3834 <- Is the combined number of the above stats. It might not be overly helpful in resources with many stats, but for fiberplast or Flora organics that have less stat points it makes more sense. A high total means that some of the stats are good. It might not be the high stat you are hoping for but it might be worth the trouble to head over and survey and put down some harvesters and sell the resource.

There are those that do make a living selling resource. They have no crafting skills, other then what artisan might give them. Also some profession will find it more useful then others.

I am not saying it will be the best solution to combine all the stats into one number, but it might be more useful then the current information being returned now.

i am definately going to be copying the stats from swgcraft and pasting them to my /notepad for an easy cross reference.

As a Master DE/Artisan/Weaponsmith, I consider these droids a godsend. And luckily I noticed that Vertex gems were spawned on my home planet (Gorath/Talus) and was able to set up 3 large harvesters. I managed to get 106k gems before they ran out today. But thats enough for more than 2500 survey droids, that should last awhile.

And the time it takes to report in does not really matter. I spend so much time checking harvesters and vendor, by the time im done, its 30-60 mins later.

So you can be assured every saturday and wednesday I will be sending out these droids to every planet to see whether the resources I need are spawned or not.

Jenden,

Did you note the time it took for the email to return?

I have it listed as 15 min. in the main post but I know we've seen that change to around 30 min.

Whatcha seeing now? (so I can update it with hopefully final info...)
